Help, Asus ZonFone 4 Max camera not working

Rooted or not: Not rooted
Frequency of Occurrence: Permanent
APP Name & APP Version (If your issue relates to the app): Camera 4.0.31.2_171220_1M
Camera hasn't been working on my Zenfone 4 Max for the last few weeks - when opening the app it just shows a black screen and then shuts down.

Tried cleaning the app's cache and data , forced stop - didn't work.
As I can see from the other posts here, I'm not the only one facing this problem. However I haven't found a solution yet.

No it's not , I also tried downloading a different camera app - that didn't work either

Thank you for your asking. Kindly try some stay-at-home troubleshooting tips below:
1. Please try to enter "Safe Mode". If the function works well in Safe Mode yet the issue remains out of Safe Mode, please check on any disturbance from the installed 3rd party apps.

2. Please try clearing cache & storage of Camera (long press "Camera">App Info>Storage & memory>Clear cache/Clear storage), then try to re-install 3rd party camera apps and check again.
3. Also, please try "the Factory Reset" 
Settings>System>Reset options>Erase all data(factory reset)
Please note that once the Factory Reset is completed, all data, apps, settings and personal information will be deleted.
4. If the issue remain the same, please check on SMMI test 
Calculator> type ".12345+=">SMMI TEST>Single Test>Main Camera Capture Test/VGACam Capture Test/Main WideCamera Capture Test
