The camera successfully takes and saves photos to the device, and the images appear in the gallery app immediately. However, the small preview thumbnail in the bottom-left corner of the camera app (which should show the last photo taken) fails to update.

This issue usually happens when the camera app’s media cache or gallery indexing doesn’t refresh after taking a photo. Here’s how to fix it:

1. Clear Camera App Cache

  • Go to Settings → Apps → Camera → Storage & cache → Clear cache

  • Then reopen the camera and take a new photo to check if the thumbnail updates.

2. Check Gallery Permissions

  • Go to Settings → Apps → Camera → Permissions

  • Make sure Photos and Media or Storage permission is Allowed.

3. Restart Media Scanner

  • Restart your phone, or use a file manager to create and delete a random image — this forces the media scanner to reindex the gallery.

4. Test in Safe Mode

  • Boot your device into Safe Mode to check if a third-party app (like a custom gallery or cleaner app) is interfering.

5. Clear Gallery App Cache (Optional)

  • Go to Settings → Apps → Gallery → Storage → Clear cache

If the preview still doesn’t update, it’s likely a UI bug in the camera app. Updating or reinstalling the camera app (if possible) usually fixes it.

Hello @彭莉素 !

I can recommend first trying to clear the cache of the camera app, you can do this by holding down the app icon > App info > Storage & cache > Clear cache.
Please let me know if this solves your issue.
