Hello guys.
I was wondering if there is anyone who owns an Asus ZenBook UX425IA/UM425IA and would be so kind as to email me some ASUS .sys files, such as "asussci2.sys, etc.," which I no longer have myself on my laptop.
I used the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) because I was having problems with my AMD graphics drivers, and DDU totally nuked my whole system and messed all the drivers up - it's even worse than before. Not reviewing the DDU-software badly or anything here! It's my fault, I just wasn't quite aware of how powerful of a tool the DDU really is - so, make sure you really know what you're doing if you're considering using it.
Anyway, some of my .sys files got messed up, including a few important ones from ASUS drivers. I no longer have a keyboard backlight. 😭 The "Ctrl + F7" shortcut key to activate the keyboard backlight doesn't work either, because I'm missing the needed asussci2.sys file among others. I've done literally everything to fix this, believe me. I even reinstalled Windows again and again, updated everything, rolled back updates and driver versions, and then updated again, but nothing works. Nothing manages to reinstall the .sys files.
So, I would be really, really happy if anyone with the same laptop model could send/email me a copy of those .sys files from their own laptops so that I can put them back where they should be right now. It's really easy to find them; they're in the "drivers" folder, which can be found here:
This PC → Local Drive (C:) → Windows → System32 → drivers
I really hope someone is able to help me with this. I feel like an 80-year-old woman trying to see the keys on my keyboard with squinting eyes when it's dark at night... 🤦
Have a great day! 😊
Sincerely, Aylin

Hi Aylin, I feel your pain—DDU can really mess things up if you’re not careful. Unfortunately, sharing .sys files can be risky due to system integrity and security issues. You might try ASUS official support or driver recovery tools; they often let you restore missing system files safely.

@Aylin
For safety and compatibility reasons, we do not recommend copying or sharing .sys system driver files from other users’ computers.
We suggest downloading and reinstalling the ASUS System Control Interface v3 from the official ASUS support page (UX425IA) to see if this resolves the issue.
If the problem persists, we recommend bringing your laptop to a service center for further inspection.

Also you can contact the local service center for help.

Hi, thomasenderson. Thank you for the thoughtful reply, really appreciate the empathy and the heads-up about sharing .sys files. I hadn’t considered there could be potential risks there. And thanks for the tip about driver recovery tools, I’ll definitely look into those next. Fingers crossed it’ll help undo some of the chaos. 😭
Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Take care.

Hi Falcon_ASUS. Thank you for the clear guidance and safety reminder about sharing .sys files, definitely noted on the risks of doing that now. Yes, I’ve reinstalled the System Control Interface v3 and all the other drivers from the official support page, and I’ve tried many other creative and exhausting solutions and ways, nothing helped so far.. I’ll consider the service center route next, but my warranty is already out by now, so I don’t know how I’ll choose to go about it.
Appreciate the detailed links and support. Have a lovely day.
