When I click connect it says ready to connect wirelessly althought it says it may be problems because the laptop wasn't designed for wireless conections

Did you tried to go to Settings -> Bluetooth & other Devices -> Add bluetooth or other devices, then add the TV (must be on the same wifi).
I did share the screen on my X509FJ with the same method.
But have to forget the TV once after disconnect to be able to connect again.
