So I've noticed my laptop running a bit slower than usual, so I've decided I'm going to perform a fresh install. I've done it before on my Windows 10 desktop before and all the drivers and the operating system were automatically reinstalled and I just had to click a few buttons. Does doing so on a laptop do the same? Or am I going to have to reinstall the Windows operating system myself through an external drive, like a USB? I'm a bit worried as I don't want to mess something up and have the laptop gone.

Hi
Perhaps something here herein the tutorials section on HOW2 re-install.
Otherwise you could try the recovery options to goto Factory Fresh or make your own installer, even the "IN PLACE" over the top method.
HOWEVER I would consider Ccleaner to purge cruft from my system, and then perhaps Defraggler , before committing to backing up all my data and downloading and storing all the necessary drivers onto another USB.
So please understand you have options.

It is recommend referring to the following FAQ for instructions on restoring or reinstalling the system.
