GPS not working anymore

Tom10

After a year of usage the GNSS on my ROG Phone 8 suddenly refuses to work.

Location service is working with mobile and wifi network and it's aproximate location. But that' in most cases simply no sufficient.

No GNSS, satellites don't show up in any application . Is this a known problem with this model?

Yes, I've tried all the usual stuff prior to this posting. It's the second time this phone fails within one year. I don't expect such low quality from a high priced product...

First fail with a total breakdown within two weeks of usage.

Hello @Tom10
I apologize for the issues you are experiencing, I would like the team to look into this a bit closer, could you maybe create a log recreating the issue? I'll write the steps down below and when you are done feel free to send me a DM with the link, that way I can send it directly to the devs.
*********************
Please follow the below steps to enable the built-in log tool (Bug reporter).

1. Open “Calculator APP”

2. Enter “.19595+=”

3. Select the Log type according to the type of issue you want to capture. “Location”

4. After your selection the log tool will exit so you can duplicate the issue or wait for it to happen. Try to use the screen recorder to show your issue when possible. If you can't screen record your issue, then please take a screenshot right after the issue has occurred (as a timestamp) so we know where to look in the log.

5. Navigate back to the log tool via calculator and Tap "FINISH AND SHARE".

6. It takes several minutes for the log to generate. You can exit and do other stuff in the meantime. A silent notification will tell you once the process is done. Tap the notification and then the share button to upload the file to Google Drive and share the link with a moderator. Just make sure to change the permission first so that everyone with the link has permission to view it.

Note: When you're no longer planning on logging your device, enter “.09595+=” in the calculator and the log tool will stop as well as deleting all stored log files. Make sure to share via calculator. The files found in internal storage -> asus_log are not the correct files (they are only 1.2kb)

Hi,

Thanks for the quick response.

PM with the requested informations sent.

ASUS Repaircenter send the same request, only a few days later. I'm not sure what's the gain from annoying customers with useless tasks...

The device is still under warranty. You can diagnose it in your workshop.

Since these recommendations are not suitable for restoring the proper function of the device, I cannot see any suspensive effect with regard to the requested rma, especially since the device is still within the warranty period. I would also like to point out that this is now the second defect within a year. The first defect, a total failure, occurred within two weeks of usage.

In the hope of a customer-oriented response, I remain with kind regards

Tom
