I have an Asus Vivobook 15.6" OLED 2023 S/N NAN0CV05W479423 model K3502ZA bought in the Philippines in June 2023 from Villman in Manila (authorized Asus retailer). When closing the lid nothing happens from day one but I ignored the issue thinking BIOS needed updating. Now more than 1 year later the magnetic lid sensor (Hall sensor) still does not work, IMO it is a hardware issue as there are no settings in BIOS about Closing the lid and I tried everything in Windows11 23H2 power plan, Registry or elsewhere. there is a magnet located under the screen bezel left side but if I move another magnet over the palm rest left of the keyboard nothing happens either in Windows, Safe Mode or in BIOS. This means the Hall board is not connected or was disabled possibly to use the laptop as a Desktop with the lid closed? The back cover screws are not scratched, I bought the laptop in a sealed closed box inside the Villman shop, I had long e-mail exchanges with Asus Support in Manila for months who forwarded my queries to Asus HQ but the issue was not resolved other than "bring the laptop to an Asus endorsed repair shop in Manila" that I am hesitant to do as everything else functions 100% and when a new board is installed I may have more issues than just the lid sensor. BTW I always suspend the laptop or shutdown before closing the lid and I am the only user so there is no real problem. Just want to double check (again) if Asus is sure that the Hall switch is not CONTROLLED BY SOME FIRMWARE that I don't have or is there perhaps a setting in the Windows registry that disables the Hall switch? My BIOS is version 312 the latest and MyAsus updates all firmware (I think).
Any insight from the moderators or a technical person would be highly appreciated
Kind regards
