Can I upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10 without losing data on my laptop?

Has been using Windows 7 for years with my ASUSPRO laptop (BU401LG). I decided to upgrade the OS from Windows 7 to Windows 10 as the Windows 7 is out of date. I can't upgrade it to Windows 11 as the processor is not supported.

I need to keep the apps and files. How can I upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10 without losing data?

Okay. You can upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10.

The method you are looking for is performing an in-place upgrade using a Windows 10 ISO file. This is the technical, manual version of what the Upgrade Assistant does, giving you more control over the process.

Here is a step-by-step guide to upgrade your Windows 7 to Windows 10 without losing your apps, files, or settings.
Step 1: Download the Windows 10 ISO File
Step 2: Perform the In-Place Upgrade from the ISO
Step 3: Run the Windows 10 Setup
Step 4: Post-Installation (Crucial for your ASUS Laptop)

This method bypasses the "Upgrade Assistant" by name but uses the exact same underlying process, giving you the control you're looking for while achieving a seamless upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on your ASUSPRO BU401LG.

It is a bit challenging to upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10 if you want to keep all apps and personal files. Reinstalling Windows 10 will cause data loss for sure. You can check this simple guide to get it done smoothly. I have upgraded two old Asus laptops upgraded to Windows 10 without any data loss.
