Hi dear community,
I have recently purchased the RT-AX89X router because of its SFP+ port and 8 LAN ports. I have 6 wired devices connected at the moment and I love not having to deal with additional switches just to get more LAN ports. Also since my ISP provides fiber via a simple media converter which uses an SFP port it was a matter of moving the ISP's SFP module from the media converter to the router and everything just worked!
So far so good. Now I am slowly starting to build a smart home and realized that the current firmware of the RT-AX89X (3.0.0.4.388_33744) has no VLAN nor IoT network functionalities. I have read some support pages e.g. this and this which talk about them, however, both pages mention that a firmware above 3.0.0.6.102_xxxx is needed. I am wondering if in other regions (I live in Europe/Bulgaria) this router has already been updated to a firmware > 3.0.0.6.102_xxxx? It would be a shame if I have to switch to a different router again because of the lack of only 2 features. Is there anyone else in the same situation like me?
I have already submitted feedback/suggestion through the router's web page and kindly requested for these features to be added but I am yet to receive an answer. I also saw that some other models which were released a bit after the RT-AX89X and initially shipped with firmware 3.0.0.4 got eventually updated to 3.0.0.6 e.g. the GT-AX6000. The RT-AX89X is a powerful router so performance is definitely not a blocker for new features. I really hope this gets picked by ASUS and they make this router even better!
Best regards,
Ted
