ThunderboltEX 4 NVM31 Downgrade Tool Request

Hello,

I have a Z890 motherboard with an Ultra 9 processor and I need Thunderbolt 2 compatibility for my old Focusrite Clarett sound card.

I was previously using a ThunderboltEX 3 on a Z490 motherboard and it was working great with an Apple Thunderbolt 2 to 3 adapter connected to the ThunderboltEX 3.

I recently purchased a ThunderboltEX 5 but I understand that it won't work for my setup.

I've now found a ThunderboltEX 4 and I'm looking for the NVM31 downgrade tool in the hope that everything will work with my Thunderbolt 2 device.

Does anyone know if this is possible or where I can obtain the downgrade tool?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Oh oh... wish i had good news for you but on this one youre up against it big time. There’s no way to downgrade the ThunderboltEX 4 to NVM31.  ASUS doesn’t release rollback tools, and the EX4 won’t restore Thunderbolt 2 compatibility on Z890 anyway. That platform simply doesn’t support TB2 audio gear, even with the Apple adapter. If you need your Clarett to work, stick with the Z490 setup or move to a USB interface.

I can change my Z890 to a Z790 if needed. I have seen Thunderbolt EX 4 + Z790 flagged as working with the Clarett. Do you think it can do the trick? Z490 is gone in the homelab now.

If your goal is Clarett and Thunderbolt EX 4 compatibility, then id say yes  a Z790 board is the better and more predictable choice than a Z890 for right now anyway.
