1.Where is the optimal placement for the ROG Carnyx to maximize its functions? ​

Since the Carnyx is equipped with a cardioid polar pattern, we recommend the following placement options:​

A. Placing it between the keyboard and the user.​

B. Positioning it apart from the keyboard and facing the user.​

C. Combining it with a microphone arm and facing the user.​

The setup aims to maximize sound capture from the user while minimizing background noise from the backside.​

 

2.What types of microphone stands does the ROG Carnyx support? ​

The ROG Carnyx features a standard microphone mount adapter that fits 3/8 inch threads, ensuring compatibility with mainstream microphone stands or boom arms available in the market. Please follow these steps to set up the Carnyx microphone on a boom arm:​

Step 1) Locate the screw on the bottom of the microphone base.​

Step 2) Use a coin or screwdriver to easily detach the Carnyx microphone stand's base.​

Step 3) Effortlessly rotate and attach our microphone to a boom arm or another stand.​

 

3.What is the purpose of the Teflon pad included in the box?​

The Teflon pad is designed to facilitate smooth Carnyx angle adjustments with minimal friction for the user. We provide an additional pad for users to replace the one already installed on the right side of the angle adjustment knob. Follow these simple steps for an easy exchange:​

Step 1) Turn the angle adjustment knob counterclockwise.​

Step 2) Remove the currently installed Teflon pad.​

Step 3) Replace it with the new pad provided.​

 

​4.What are the benefits of recording at a sampling rate of 192 kHz/24-bit?​

The ROG Carnyx features a superior 192kHz/24-bit sampling rate, enhancing audio quality by capturing more details and offering greater flexibility in post-production processes. Here are the significance of these specifications: ​

Higher Sampling Rate (192kHz):​

A sampling rate refers to the number of audio samples captured per second. A higher sampling rate allows the microphone to capture more details and nuances in the audio, providing a more accurate representation of the original sound wave.​

Increased Bit Depth (24-bit):​

The bit depth determines the number of amplitudes in the audio signal. A higher bit depth results in recordings with higher resolution and a wider dynamic range, especially in quiet or subtle passages.​

Audio Detail: Larger drivers typically have the capability to receive more audio signals. Under the same sound source, they exhibit higher sensitivity, delivering more comprehensive audio details.​

Low-Frequency Response: Larger drivers excel in capturing low-frequency sounds. Due to their ability to generate larger vibrations, they transmit more powerful bass and richer audio content.​

Noise Discrimination: The broader surface area of larger drivers aids in effectively distinguishing between audio signals and ambient noise in a fixed environment. This contributes for the efficient suppression of unwanted noise.​

The 25 mm condenser capsule makes the ROG Carnyx ideal for recording quiet or distant sources. It excels in capturing subtle sound nuances, presenting the speaker's voice and emotions with warmer and richer tones.​

6.Why is the cardioid polar pattern suitable for solo users?​

As shown in the left image, the microphone has a 360° field, with each circle denoting a 5 dB sensitivity decrease from the outer to inner regions. The front side exhibits maximum sensitivity.​

Due to its directional sensitivity, the cardioid microphone is an optimal choice for solo users during recording. This pattern isolates the sound source while minimizing background noise and interference from the sides and rear, ensuring clarity and precision in recordings.​

 

7.Why does the shock mount matter for Carnyx?​

Condenser microphones are more sensitive than dynamic ones, easily picking up noise and vibrations. The shock mount plays a crucial role in reducing these disturbances for cleaner audio.​

In addition, the shock mount equipped with elastic suspension cables isolates the microphone to prevent potential ground vibrations or external interferences, such as keystrokes or mouse clicks from traveling through surfaces like stands or desks. 8.Is the shock mount of ROG Carnyx made of metal?​

Yes, the Carnyx shock mount features an impressive 10-20% more metal in its construction compared to competitors. This enhances its build quality, providing a premium, tactile, and durable feel.​

9.What is the purpose and function of a high-pass filter?​

A high-pass filter in audio processing allows higher-frequency signals to pass through while attenuating lower-frequency ones. Commonly found in studio-grade microphones, this filter operates by suppressing background noise with frequencies below 80Hz like rumbles or hums. It prevents lower frequencies from muddying the sound of the voice and ensures a cleaner and more prominent audio output.
