I own an ASUS TUF Gaming FA706ICB. It came with an OEM Samsung PM991 SSD (firmware FXM7201Q).
Recently, I’ve been facing a serious issue:
SSD intermittently disappears from BIOS
System fails to boot (takes 20–30 retries)
Only starts once the system gets extremely hot (>75°C)
This began recently, despite the SSD showing 90% health in CrystalDiskInfo
Windows & MyASUS diagnostics show no issue — yet the drive is unreliable
I discovered that this problem is common with Samsung PM991 OEM SSDs, as reported globally (e.g., Dell, HP, Lenovo). It's frustrating that ASUS bundled a known faulty drive and now blocks out-of-warranty support, even though it’s a manufacturing design issue, not user damage.
Please escalate this issue to your technical team. Hoping ASUS takes responsibility and helps resolve this, even out of warranty.
