Hello,
I have an asus expertbook b5404cma and I have a question about bios update. Could a bios update resolve hibernation issues? I have issues when my laptop doesn't resume from hibernation and restarts instead - in event viewer I have this error message:" Error: BL_LOG_ERROR_RES_INVALID_HBBOOT_MEM_MAP: The memory map has changed since associated cold boot. Status: The system has failed to hibernate (The error code is %hs). Hibernation will be disabled until the system is restarted."
The issue is intermittent - sometimes hibernation works fine other times it restarts - I have disabled fast startup. Could a bios update solve this issue? Currently I have bios version 305 but 309 is available
Thank you

@leli4
Based on the described situation, the issue may be caused by a memory error during the wake-up process. If your BIOS has not been updated to the latest version, it is recommended to try updating it and see if the issue improves.
Since you mentioned that the issue does not occur every time, it is also possible that background programs or third-party software are causing errors during the wake-up process from sleep mode. We also suggest entering Safe Mode to check whether the problem still occurs.
Thank you.
How to update BIOS in Windows

Hello,
Some time ago I tried updating bios through my Asus and the laptop just rebooted I have since disabled fast startup. Should I try again with Jesus my Asus or should I update with ez flash? Will the update reset bios settings? Can the issue be caused by VBS?
Thank you

You can use EZ Flash in the BIOS to perform the update. After updating, the BIOS settings will automatically be restored to default values, but this will not affect your system or data. Disabling Fast Boot is the correct approach, and VBS will not cause any issues with BIOS updates.
Thank you.

Hello,
Do I have to change settings back to how are now(do I need to take note of current settings and reapply them?) - will secure boot stay on?
I mean could VBS affect hibernation and cause issues?
Thank you
