That's a 10-year old phone that was mid-range then. Its specs today are lower than that of the cheapest phone on the market. But I agree that phone makers could do more. Apple does (minus the repairing). My point was simply that updates are not that important. Many phones work well years after the updates stop, especially…

Btw, I still use occasionally a 2013 Moto G (OG) with a mid-tier cpu at the time, 1gb of RAM and 8gb of storage. With Android 7.1.2 via LineageOS, it is perfectly usable for basic tasks and streaming. The battery can be easily swapped (not the case of my iPhone SE 2016, which would cost me a lot of money relative to its…

I agree partly - and disagree in part. Why use a phone for only 2 years because there are no upgrades after that? Does that render the phone unusable? Not at all. I have many examples of people around me (but not on these forums!) who still use their phones happily and productively after 3 years of zero updates. So why the…

You explain how things should be, and I generally agree it would be better. You still do not explain why it's such a big problem.

I understand why this is a bit of a problem. But why is it a serious problem? My wife's phone had not been updated in around 3 years and she is happily using it and would not give it up for anything. (And it's still plenty fast - a Sony XZ1 Compact.) My dad is using a low-tier Moto not updated in 3 years and he is plenty…

Solves one, breaks one

Enter app settings and clean storage & cache data. Restart. It worked for me.

I have had a totally different experience. After a few early months in which Asus updated the poor release software very frequently, almost all issues were solved. Everything works quite well now. Although I have quite a few comparable phones (Pixel 5, Pixel 4a, Xperia 5 mk2) that also work well, I keep returning to the…

I never had problems either. But the blue mark is clearly a little faster.
-
Amazing! Let's see long-term - but immediately after the change I see visible improvements.
-
What about the stock Asus phone app? Because it stretches credulity that all those who experienced this problem and complained about it never switched, at least for checking purposes, from the Google to the Asus phone app. (I never had this issue myself, but I have read countless reports.)

Essentially, nothing works reliably enough for me under all lighting configurations. I tried 3 tempered glass (0.3mm) and two so-called flexible glass (0.15mm) solutions. The latter were clearly better, but even adding only my 2 thumbs' prints under different light scenarios (darkish room, bright natural light, bright mall…

Just got it now. Works OK.
-
You got the OTA in Romania? Because I am not getting it (Orange RO).
-
New update. Has it improved facial recog?
-
There is a whole thread on this, just below yours.
-
I updated fine. Phew!
-
The subject is a thread that was closed without being resolved.

I used to have this in A11. Disappeared in A12 (after reset, at least).
-
Works fine in my case. Nova also.
-
Come on! Never gets fixed? It was not a problem until the last update. Give them some time to fix it. Maybe at least one update...
-
Maybe ask your phone company. I use volte on mine (Orange Romania). Settings - Network & internet - Internet - SIM - VoLTE.

Strange, I have a Zenfone 8 (and a Pixel 5, after a long line of Pixels), and I don't need a custom ROM on it.
-
Yes, Asus, immediately give us the Almost April patch (which is almost out).
-
Did you factory reset?
-
I second that. A small battery bump in my case as well.
-
Several consecutive manual updates, no OTA so far. From what you describe, everything suggests a defective battery.
-
Sorry, then. For me 12 was a considerable improvement. Battery manager says nothing relevant about what consumed so much power?
-
Did you factory reset after updating to A12?
-
Do they work if you revert to a previous version or A11? They work for me.
