@Blake_ASUS, I don't have questions for Microsoft, only for Asus. Windows is certainly fain and ZenBook display off is broken. Thank you Edward

Hi, if something drains battery during sleep then first of all you need to [powercfg /sleepstudy] from command or PowerShell prompt with administrative privileges. Then open c:\windows\system32\sleeptudy.html in your internet browser. It should mark in red what SW or HW is draining battery. If everything is green then…

Hi @Blake_ASUS, Thanks for Microsoft doc. OK, what about this: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/design/device-experiences/display--sleep--and-hibernate-idle-timers Turn off the display: On a modern standby system: When this time-out occurs, the display immediately turns off. ***However, the system continues to run…

HI, did you try switching plain-mode on/off? My UX with AC 8265 on 802.11ac network sometimes enters limited 30Mb/s speedtest speeds. Switching to plain mode for few seconds then turning it off returns to max available internet provider speed. Don't know what causes it. 30Mb/s is enough for daily tasks so I rarely notice…

HI, For mobile devices my choice for NVMe SSD is Kingston A2000, about 2GB/s R/W, up to 1TB size available. Decent speed, no flaws and slow downs of cheaper drives, 5Y warranty. For more space or if I needed top performance I'd look for Samsung 970 EVO Plus or something like that. Edward

Hi @AnthonyLee_ASUS, turning off display will goes to sleep mode as this is the default design by Windows This doesn't seem to be true, because Modern Standby capable desktop PC doesn't go to sleep on display off. "Standby (S0 Low Power Idle) Network Connected" is present in response to powercfg /a. If you insist on what…

@udpsendtofailed, There should be no practical difference between power usage between DISconnected modern standby and non-modern standby. Switching between dis- and connected sleep is as easy as switching WiFi off or on with Fn+F2. In older Windows 10 versions there were options in Settings to choose connected or…

@RAJU.MSC.MATHEMATICS, Fast startup has nothing to do with the issue.
  • ekarpicz
@RAJU.MSC.MATHEMATICS, Nonsense. Hibernation is must have even on ZenBooks. You may not use it, but critical battery action should be allowed to hibernate. Sleep mode keeps discharging and shutdown may lead to data loss. BTW it won't even shutdown if some APP complains that data is not saved. Hibernation is allowed to take…

Hi @hqtanned I've not yet checked implementation of Modern Standby on many different PC's. Today I checked display off on Modern Standby equipped desktop PC with Gigabyte MB using B360 chipset. Modern Standby is really working, but display off just does display off, sleep is entered according to sleep timer. Hidden…

Hello Blake Thanks for Your reply. Yes, You can't force me to install it. But.. some efforts of whole Asus team, workhours, time, money, etc.. were spent by Asus to create this package for Device I bought. I as well indirectly spent some money for this package. Isn't it? As well fresh date stamp confirms that Asus keeps…

Hello Blake, OK, so new 308 BIOS is indeed old 308 BIOS. And to improve information security is to prevent the possibility of leaking information from our APPs. Sorry, but I still don't understand. Does it enable some Windows Firewall settings for Asus APPs? Does it prevent users copy pasting something from…

hqtanned, Perhaps you didn't notice it. I have almost identical to yours UX331UA (just no dedicated graphics) and it from day 1 was going to sleep few seconds soon after closing the lid or locking desktop with Win+L. Display off shortcut Fn+F7 was forcing sleep mode as well. I mistakenly thought I found solution for it…

Blake_ASUS, thanks for your clarifications. It is still not clear though why BIOS in new form came for older than 309 version. Asus just released BIOS in new form and someone forget that they had newer one? Should I downgrade from 309 to 308? .. and completely not clear about "device activation". I've read FAQ you pointed…

Hi, indeed there's solution for Win+L (lock) going to sleep. There are two hidden power plan settings, which could be unhidden editing registry. One settings seems being irrelevant to the issue. It's Sleep->System unattended sleep timeout. It's for when Windows wakes PC in the middle of the night to perform updates,…

Hi hqtanned, I've UX331UA. I remember there was issue with ATK Package (ASUS Kerboard Hotkeys) older than 1.0.0060. With 1.0.0060 closing display lid does nothing. Of course if set to do nothing in power settings. I set display lid close action to sleep on battery and to do nothing on AC. With older ATK Package, if I…

Hi, When the charger is unplugged the Zembook switchs off This is strong indication that your battery is dead. Of course it could be some problem in onboard power supply circuit, but must likely it is bad battery. , despite the battery indicates 100% charged. In some case it could be really charged but may have…

Hi Anthony, thanks for your attention. I retested both UX331UA's after a week. As I suspected, solution to refresh slow sectors is temporary. Areas of slow linear read speed slowly come back and reappear. Here's how my laptop with 4TB written looks like past the week. Please compare to the first (before refresh) and to the…

"To be clear, the CPU-z benchmark gives me a value of about 1000 points while before I got more or less 2000" CPU-Z results depend on CPU-Z version. Are you sure you didn't change it?

Hi Gyula, so you never been able to connect your ZenBook to 5GHz? Or indeed it sometimes connects and then operates well? If first then isn't your router set to the channel, which is not allowed in your area? Does ZenBook country setting match your area? Of course if it was illegal channesl ZenBook shouldn't list your 5GHz…
