Ahh yes, I see that tint when I open youtube when I first got the phone. I'm used to it now.
-
Same version, I just updated. I actually found it to be ok, I don't notice the black crush anymore and I use it all the time in low light. Also, the auto rotate issue I have been experiencing has now been fixed.
-
The black crush issue is definitely not as noticeable now. It was very obvious when I first got the phone, but it has progressively gotten better with each update.
-
You can't use the screen recorder, because it wouldn't capture any screen issues. The screen recording will look perfect. You will need to use another camera to capture any issues with the screen.
-
Has the .98 update been pulled? I can seem to be able to find it anywhere? Has it been pulled?
-
Same, reducing the refresh rate fixes it, however other people say this is not the real fix.
-
I don't think you can, unless there's a way in developer mode. I got the Tencent version, I don't see why the Aerocool 3 can cost more than $160AU, its such a rip off. If it was like $50, I'd consider buying it.
-
You must have gotten it from Kogan haha. Its amazing value, just need to live with a few issues. Yes, .98 is the latest firmware. I was not able to get the updates OTA, so I just use the method I described to update. Very happy with it so far. The S20 Ultra (Exynos) was a huge disappointment, I will never touch Exynos…

You most likely got the Tencent version. They flash it with the World wide rom. That's the version I have, it is working very well at the moment. I suggest you turn on developer mode and enable "Disable HW overlay", this will resolve most of the screen issues you will experience. Make sure you update the firmware. You do…
-
Have you tried enabling Disable HW overlays in Developer options? That seem to solve it for me.
-
What quality do you have that at? That is very different to what appears on my device. I played that video side by side with the S20 Ultra. The ROG Phone 3 had more black crush, but with disable HW overlay enabled, it is hardly noticeable.
-
It completely went away for me. I have yet to experience any black crush so far. Can someone from ASUS please comment. Why hasn't this fix been pushed out by ASUS? Are there any issues by disabling HW overlay?
-
Google it if you don't know. This is a very common issue for the ROG Phone 3. I fixed the black crush issue by going into Developer options and turning this option on: Disable HW overlays - Always use GPU for screen compositing All the weird screen issues went away, Youtube looks normal now and I have yet to experience…
-
Thanks so much, this fixed the youtube issue. Youtube is fixed now. All the the weird hue is gone. Will check other apps.
-
You will get this with most manufacturers. If you want fast updates, get a pixel. Do you understand the work which needs to be done to push the updates to you. They need to test it to ensure their customizations don't break it. Samsung is notoriously slow with their updates too, that's because they need to make sure the…

Should I upgrade to the latest version or not?
-
All phones do that. My S20 Ultra does it, its built into Android.
-
How are you talking the call? With it to your ear, with the USBC headphones or with bluetooth headphones?
-
I just tried locking the screen and testing it. Doesn't work for me, still not able to auto-rotate. The only way to fix this temporarily for me is to restart the phone. Very annoying, I have downloaded an app which forces landscape or portrait now. Definitely didn't expect this from a flagship.
-
I have both the S20 Ultra and the ROG phone 3. If you don't consider the price, overall the S20 Ultra is a better phone, it is more polished, screen is absolutely awesome, Samsung is at the top of that game. However, if everything is taken into account, I prefer the ROG Phone 3, despite all the little issues I have been…
-
Sure, other flagships have kinks, but the screen is the most important thing for a phone, you see it and touch it all the time. Yes, I've heard of the Samsung camera breaking, happened to a friend, not me thankfully. Battery drain, I'm ok with, I charge my phone everyday so not too fussed. I've been experiencing the black…
-
That's the problem, you bought it from a store in the Philippines, so for support and service, you need to send it back to the Philippines. ASUS doesn't have global support for this phone, not even Samsung has that. If it was purchased in a different country, Samsung wouldn't give you much help in another country.
-
It would be great if that can be fixed once and for all. Using this device along with the S20 Ultra, I didn't expect there to be much difference in the screen of these devices, but the S20 Ultra is much better, I've never experienced any black crush issues and I have the display locked to 120Hz.
-
That would be great
-
I have sent you the required files. It would be great if this can be fixed. It is quite annoying, I didn't expect these kinds of issues for a flagship phone.
-
Overall, I think its only worth it if you get a good deal on it. RRP is not worth it for the ROG Phone 3. Yes you get very good specs and its very snappy, however, that is not everything. Software counts as well and this is where the ROG Phone 3 falls over. I can live with the auto-rotate issue and some of the screen…
-
I recently got the ROG Phone 3, there are bigger issues than no VoLTE. The black crush issue is still not fixed and I have a weird auto-rotate issue where the sensor appears to go to sleep. Not acceptable for a flagship phone!
-
Changing the refresh rate seems to make it better. The ROG Phone 3 has so many issues no flagship should have.
-
I think this issue is related to refresh rate. If I force 144Hz, it is worse, but as I reduce the refresh rate, this issue sort of goes away. If you put in adaptive screen refresh, I don't notice it anymore. Its still bad, I don't expect so many issues with a premium flagship product. This is not acceptable, when is Asus…
