Still waiting/hoping for a fix? I told you so 😉 Stick with your Pixel 5.
  • Crimis
I don't think this will be fixed.
  • Crimis
Sorry I send the Pixel instructions, @Mansi_ASUS placed the correct Zenfone instructions.

    Settings -> System -> Gestures -> Navigation

That's a property of all (secure) hardware fingerprint readers, you need a clean and dry finger to get a proper reading. It's not an exclusive Pixel 5 issue. But you are right, sometimes devices of big smartphone manufacturers are just full of problems. Especially when they are launched.
  • Crimis
You are new to the Zenfone experience :-) Take a look around the forums of the different Zenfone's and ROG phone's. There are many issue's which remain unfixed for months / for ever. There also seems to be no good connection between the mods/community on this forum and the Asus development department. There is a lot of top…

This reviewer uses a bike ride, the GPS issue is only visible in slower recordings. To notice the GPS position jumping around by a couple of meters you need to stay more or less in the same area for a couple of seconds.
  • Crimis
Do you know if the fix is included in the next update?
  • Crimis
I'm getting the same results, I wonder if this can be fixed with software. When I check with GPSTest the Zenfone 9's location is constantly jumping around with a couple of meters, the Pixel 5 is just dead steady.

Probably it's also kind of hard to source a great display in this size, all high-end screens are 6,1 inch+
  • Crimis
So if I understand correctly the screen is not capable of keeping the same brightness and colors when switching between refresh rates? On most other high refresh rate phones it's almost impossible to see the difference when switching refresh rates. Maybe the screen in the Zenfone is recommended to only use at 60hz by…

Maybe it's an idea to offer "auto 90hz" and "auto 120hz" options like suggested here? https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/63018/dynamic-refresh-rate Because the biggest problem seems to be mayor color and brightness differences at 90hz.
  • Crimis
Can one of the mods maybe share some information about a possible camera update? Is it expected there will be a big update for image processing anytime soon? Or is Asus happy with the image quality as it currently is? The Nothing Phone with the same sensor has received a couple of software updates already, greatly…

This is probably just this: https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/62970/zenfone-9-navigation-buttons

Pixels and iPhones just go the the highest refresh rate on touch for a couple of seconds and then fall back to 60hz. It doesn't matter which app you are using of if you are just scrolling through the app drawer. Sounds like an easy and basic implementation? This is also considered the best implementation among most tech…

Where are you from? Funny they think you would return the phone and keep the €20 screen protector 😆
  • Crimis
You can set the fingerprint scanner to a mandatory press of the button before it unlocks. This prevents it from accidentally unlocking when you touch only touch it.
  • Crimis
Yes i noticed it too, especially with grey tinted backgrounds. Like when you pull down the notification area. It also gets worse with higher refresh rates. Probably has something to do with the quality/calibration of the screen.

@Mattias_ASUS I also found this picture in the display review of the Zenfone 8, you can see a clear difference between the night mode of the 2 Asus devices and the other devices. It looks like night mode is not strong enough on the Asus phones, it could go way more towards yellow-orange.
  • Crimis
Some of top top voted topics in the ideas forum are about software support. Also it's mentioned in every review about every Asus phone since at least a year. It does not look like it's going to change anytime soon. If Asus was willing to change it they would have done it already I suppose.
  • Crimis
+1 Yes, this was also mentioned in some reviews
  • Crimis
@Mattias_ASUS I made a picture to demonstrate. Left Pixel 5, middle iPhone 12 Pro, Right Zenfone 9. All max brightness and max night mode. Could it be a problem with my device?
  • Crimis
Yes it's allot better in Android 13 but still not perfect. The predictive back gesture could be a new issue for 3rd party launchers though.
  • Crimis
Maybe Asus can emulate a notification LED with the always on screen. It's OLED so you can have a small area of the screen blinking in different colors without using much power.

Keep reading the source, you skipped the part about RAW files: Pixel binning and shooting RAW If you want to capture RAW photos with your smartphone, then you cannot use pixel binning. If the manufacturer allows it, your mobile camera can only output RAW files that aren’t pixel binned or jpeg files that are either…

  • Crimis
Well, since you don't know what RAW means let me educate you. Binning is image processing (combining pixel data), RAW files are unprocessed. The sensor itself can not send "binned" data, it's a sensor not a cpu. If you want to know more: https://thesmartphonephotographer.com/smartphone-pixel-binning/ I hope you learned…

Where did you find the setting?
in RAW photos Comment by Crimis August 23
  • Crimis
RAW means RAW sensor data, so of course it's non-binned. It's completely unprocessed. These files are much easier to edit in Lightroom because you have information which is removed in regular JPG files.

I also don't understand where this feature is coming from, is it requested by users somewhere? Why even add something confusing like this, it's better to invest time in core features like the launcher of camera. Android already has great volume control by default.
  • Crimis
Yes, yellowish or maybe slightly red. Not completely green. Do you own a Zenfone 9?
