Asus why is this ON? Is Asus spying me?!

I remember i turn this OFF before but it pops out again after so many hundreds of hours.
What and why it runs on background without user knowing????!!!

This Screen Recorder process always start when the phone restarted. I always need to start "Screen recording" then stop it....This process will be gone. This bug exist for many version already
Of all system application, why screen recording is still a BUG? Seriously,i hate this and it makes me feel insecure.
This is a system app and they usually load in the background like any other system apps you have on ROG2. It is also the same for other phones as what most people call them as bloatware.
The time is showing from when your device was last turned on/restarted.
If it is bothering you, you can simply deny the program from accessing microphone, camera, etc. You can also restrict background usage. But remember to undo if you do decide to use.
I did restricted it 2 times before. Now it appear again and i restrict it AGAIN.
This smells like spying to me.
Btw,screen recording doesn't it sound fishy to you? Ain't you worry your banking password were recorded?
No, I don't do banking on my mobile phone, I stick with computer for that type of things.
Restricting stops it from running in the background, but it doesn't kill it completely. There's nothing to worry about to be honest as any system apps that came with the device will run in the background.
The only way to kill it off completely at the moment is by rooting the device. But it won't do harm so you do not really need to remove it.
I do hope so...
I some-how doubt the PR nightmare would be worth the trade off of Asus spying on you with a screen recorder.
This type of thing would've been exposed on XDA in a heartbeat.
Who say Asus is only spying me?
Did anyone REALLY REALLY check Background running process if daily?
I used to then i stop for around a month.
You sure yours didn't run on background?
I doubt it
I wonder what will Asus do about this.. why no Asus respond about this? Is this a bug or intentional ?
It's not a bug at all. It's how Android works. ASUS is niche with the gaming phone and they may have a screen recorder especially for Game Genie. As Game Genie is a system app, these will automatlcally load in the background.
By the way, screen recorder is a feature of Android 10, so it would be on all devices running Android 10.
Are you not afraid of Google as it is constantly gathering information about us?
Yes i do. Thats why I'm asking Asus about this but seems non Asus representative willing to reply me here.
Question: Ain't you worry Screen Recorder records your banking details and password?
I don't know if the question was for me, but i did say I don't do banking on mobile.
Give ASUS a chance to reply, I guess they are busy and I'm sure they will reply.
@cael.gfilho @Kris_ASUS @CH_ASUS
Thank you. I don't know which Asus member to tag. Thank you
Well,i do use banking on my phone due to work and when i saw this happened,it freaks me out
I totally understand. If the mods here is the only way to clarify the situation for you, that's fine too.
I hope your device isn't the Tencent Edition. Otherwise it isn't ASUS who you should be worried about with your data. Rather, your data would be transferred to the Chinese Communist Regime who are known for their strict surveillance and censorship. Big corporations in mainland China are controlled by members of the communist party and it is in their law that companies hand over any user data they have, domestic or international, if their government demands it.
The reason why the Tencent Edition is cheaper than the Standard Edition is because you're partly paying for it with your privacy instead of more money.
Have anyone checked this in their ROG 2. If yes please comment .
There really isn't much to be said that Ronald1984 hasn't already mentioned but I guess you want it hear it from a mod :)
This is a system app which is used by Game Genie and you can also activate it from the quick menu to record your screen. It only records to a video file. There's no streaming and no spying. You can't kill this app entirely because it's needed by the system. You can deny it access to your camera, mic and so on but you can't kill it.
With that said, it's not supposed to be running unless it's actually running. Have you tried to clear the cache & storage of your screen recorder app?
Btw, you don't happen to have a Tencent device do you? Sometimes there are bugs with tencent devices running WW rom.
Im using Global version strix
