Missing 2G only network option

Coming from another phones I immediately noticed the lack of '2G only' option for cellular network. Why such decision? I noticed my phone is changing a lot between networks, dropping connection thus losing battery due to that. Also during gaming I see no reason to stay on 2G/3G toggle which is enough to cause lags in case of Wi-Fi drop. Might as well just use 2G and conserve some battery.
Could we please have '2G only' option (next to 2G/3G and 2G/3G/4G) for cellular network?

Is it a drop from Wi-Fi to 3G instead?
I don't really understand your question.
All I am asking for is a '2G only' toggle, because there are some people that do not care about mobile data transfer and are always on WiFi, and with weak mobile network coverage you end up with phone toggling between 2G/3G constantly, with each switch causing some battery drain. Since 2G is still a thing in Europe (not really usable for browsing and media, but enough for calls and messages), having such toggle is a huge battery saver.
ok right I get it now, I wasn't sure if you were playing online games and if you are moving around a lot and I thought it might be a WiFi drop and it goes to 3G which also eats the battery. But now that I understand your problem yea I think there should be an option for 2G only which I think other phones from other brands still have I think...
Why not just turn off mobile data completely?
I have it turned off. It still keeps switching between 2g and 3g constantly when signal is weak and draining some of battery. You completely missed the point with your reply
Yea he just wants a single 2G option so it would not keep switching from 2G to 3G.
How about putting the phone into Airplane mode?
Then as well I might throw that phone away and get myself a Nokia 3310...
I still want to receive calls, messages, even push notifications via 2G. Putting it into airplane mode disables any GSM functions.
2g mode allows all of that. You still can call, text, perform basic network functions, but drains way less battery than phone that keeps switching between 2g/3g constantly.
Or you could also get an education and show more gratitude to the ones trying to help you.
2G died more than a decade ago. I had a OnePlus 5T and iPhone X and none of those phones had anything like "Only 2G" option. It's as trying to pretend a physical keyboard on a phone in 2019. Want 2G? Go and get a 2G phone. Fixed
Writing posts without reading any of previous messages, yea really helpful of you :) If you'd read what was posted here earlier you'd know why such thing is required.
Pfffff. Don't expect smart answers if you do stupid questions kid.
You can download an app called Force LTE. This app has all the combinations that you can want.
2g only, 3g only, 4g only, 2g +3g, 2g+3g+4g, 3g+4g
Hope this helps
Hi...
I completely understand your question. I just got my ROG Phone just nearly 2 weeks ago. I came from Galaxy S7 where 2g ONLY network is available in the setting where I used mainly. Cos I use wifi principally for any internet connection. So, to save battery I use 2g as my main network and it really saved a lot of battery.
Sadly, as you mentioned, this option is noy available in ROG Phone 2. However, I found a workaround.
I downloaded an app in Playstore named "2g 3g 4g LTE Switcher". In "Advance Network Setting", choose GSM only.
I use it to for force ROG Phone 2 to stay on GSM (2g) ONLY and it works. I also can accept call juat fine.
There are other apps like it in Playstore. You also can try them.
Hope this will solve you problem as I understand completely you concern.
Thank you.
