Are our devices being nerfed?

Under multiple occasions I have mentioned how ASUS is making the phone worse and worse, including but not limited to: breaking of pro mode (purple tint), breaking of GCam, breaking of battery life in Android 10. If our devices are being nerfed intentionally, mods please reply yes. We are fed up of the fake hope brought about by "community feedback" that never came to fruition.

  • Addendum: some companies like to do "planned obsolescence" where devices are planned to decay and new devices are bought instead. ASUS may have accidentally made an phone that have the potential to last for ages, including the LCD screen that does not burn in, and the camera design that, in the case of a failed motor, can be pried out by our thumbs. Should ASUS think that they are giving us too much and intentionally nerf our device, notify us so that we unlock our devices immediately with waiting for potential software updates that won't come if the company is intentionally hindering the device.

In previous posts I have point out exactly what ASUS should do to have a good public image. Now, I point out what ASUS should do to maximize profit. If you inform us that planned obsolescence is indeed the cause of the nerfing, we'll unlock our device so that it is no longer eligible for official repair service, and you may further cut cost down.

I have given what ASUS can do in the two ends of the spectrum of good company vs bad company. Staying in the middle won't work. Reply immediately.

  • @Anders_ASUS why can't you understand the issues with the camera ? Do you think it's fun for the customers to complaint unnecessarily ?tell the device you want to compare your device with

  • I would like to mention that there is NO NEED to understand what was wrong with current version. All you need to do to settle all this debate is to either reply "YES" to admit planned obsolescence, or alternatively roll back all changes made after 189 and reply "NO" to show that you really care. No understanding of camera required, and layman can do it.

  • They want us to compare with another phone at similar pricing , with both phones running stock software , but comparing to 5z is unfair it seems , cuz 5z is better than 6z u see... We should compare this phone to other phones with worse camera performance only , else it will become unfair XD

  • Or better , give us a downgrade link to 189 until asus fixes all these issues , they rushed the update just for the sake of it

Hey asus , faster updates won't give you an edge over the competition , the user's experience with the phone gives . Why make us suffer for it?

If this is the case then none of us will be recommending an asus phone to anyone... And its 100% sure existing users wont upgrade to an asus phone in the future...

Atleast accept that there are issues , atleast that will give us relief and confidence that you guys are aware of the problems and are working on to solve it

Not accepting the issues will only make it worse , users will lose rheir mind and patience , so atleast tell us that you guys are aware abiut the problems , or we will have to use other public ways , why let everyone know and defame your company? We have generous , polite and patience so far until now.. it might not be same for long , if this is the state.

  • Oh I hope that ASUS knew that quality is over quantity before rolling out all these updates. Wonder why all that spare time after making the update? It is for bug fixing of course!! Don't you ever think that your engineers are better than OnePlus's so before they get an official updates yours is just beta quality. As we have established that our current versions of Android is beta quality, you are expected to be even more responsible to accept bug fixes and corrections than any moment in the whole companies lifetime!!! To everyone else who is trying to get things to change, there is not a need to threaten for a fix. IF ASUS NOT WILLING TO CHANGE, Even if the FBI bust open their headquarters and point a rifle to the CEO, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN, HE/SHE WONT FIX. We got to explain what the current problem is again and again, untill we finally able to convey them and tame the evil of negligence inside ASUS and they eventually change. That is how evils are tamed in video games, and I hope that it will work towards ASUS.

  • the link for 189 is there in Asus official website

  • No, we did not "nerf" camera.

GCam stop working - it is really difficult for us to comment - I hope you can understand why, as GCam is not exacly free/open software. That being said, it does seem Gcam with versions 7.0 works on ZF6 on Q.

The camera quality has not intentionally in any way been degraded from P to Q. We are doing some comparisons internally, will share in the major thread when that is done.

  • I hope that's really the case ?

Do you realize how similar this forum is to OnePlus forums? All users on all OEMs are complaining about something and think they are being personally targeted by the company. Just relax.

SW development takes time, and I don't see any mention of official GCam support anywhere in the ZF6 feature list. Asus is not obliged in any way shape or form to support a 3rd party application that is not even targeted at non-google devices, ever wondered why they call it GCam-"MOD"?

I have upgraded to Q since day one and didn't face any major issues, of course I don't expect it to be perfect from the first shot, give it time and Asus will continue to improve performance over with updates.

But if you're THAT desperate and absolutely CANNOT wait then I can give you an answer:

YES, YOUR DEVICE IS NERFED DELIBERATELY. And the Earth is flat. Satisfied?

I will remain calm despite your strong words and repeat once again, our devices used to work with GCam no problem, and the pro mode don’t have purple pink tint. After update .189 everything went downhill and nothing works. We are not asking for updates, we are not asking for features, we are asking for rollback of camera api change and patching of bugs. No one is asking asus to officially support GCam, in fact, they will get sued to bankruptcy if they actually do it, but the point is to not break existing software. Wonder how we feel with broken GCam out of the blue? Imagine Facebook broken suddenly one day. Don’t you dare focus on the name of GCam “mod”. I would prefer calling it a GCam adaption on this device, since installation of custom apps and software is allowed on this phone.
