Since I've bought the phone from Gearbest it would be nice if Asus made any effort to basically contact them and try to stop the selling since on their own they will surely not do that.
A simple PSA on Twitter saying that Asus will not support any product sold through gearbest would be enough.
Not doing anything and refusing any support at the same time looks like Asus doesn't mind the sale money and the low overhead of not needing to provide support.
Hi, could use a little help here to establish what type of Asus Rog 2 I bought please. The shop I got it from states it for the global market although the back of my phone says tencent games.

If the back of the phone says "Tencent", it is one of the unsupported configurations we are talking about here. Only the Tencent models intended for sale and use in China have that labeling on the back.
Asus should have offered, and still can, also the 8/128 international version. Not many people can afford to pay 900 USD for a phone. This would have prevented many problems to customers who bought the Tencent version because that was the version they could afford. It was also not clear on the internet that Tencent version would have problems outside of China. Otherwise people would not buy it. The lack of LTE bands in the Chinese version was also not emphasized enough. Personally (and luckily as I almost bought the Tencent version) I have the international version that has no bugs and I am very pleased with the phone. Every question I had was referring to some setups not immediately obvious to me and answered promptly on this forum. Every customer should have the same level of experience and satisfaction with the product. Asus now has the chance to create a significant customer base for phones. Rog phone 2 is a product many want. But with all these problems that great opportunity might be missed. Customers who bought the phone in good faith and now being left on disposal of dealers will have a bitter taste in their mouths. I understand Asus cannot control dealers but loud and clear campaigns could have been taken to make sure people understand that Tencent version would only work properly in China.
The solution is on the part of Asus, the companies that sold these phones are not to blame me for this ... then because Asus sold them these phones ... this came from the factory sealed with the firmware ww ... never opened to change it ....
problem to sign in my google account with mobile data but with wifi can and problem with open app YouTube....my phone version is tencent edition anyone please help me
I have the tencent version and it came with global rom. I noticed I couldn't upgrade my firmware using FOTA/OTA. I tried to figure out why is that like this, and I discovered that the seller didn't *fully* converted to the WW firmware - which means that the fingerprint of the phone is still CN.
I did some research and found a video says "How to fully convert ROG Phone 2 Tencent edition to global rom", followed the steps and now I have FOTA/OTA updates and all the themes unlocked!?

Hi.
I have already sent you the Email and got no reply from support on this regard.
And the listing is still on
Sent who what email? Are you trying to get in contact with ASUS or Gearbest support?
I've sent the Email to Asus support.
I'm also in contact with Gearbest support, but that's not an issue here.
Tes Say tencent ...
Then you have a Tencent model phone with worldwide firmware. Please get in contact with your reseller for a refund.
If anything goes wrong with the phone ASUS support cannot help you, and your device is not in warranty.

Any chance you could look at mine please?
That would be much appreciated if you could tell me how to get in touch with Asus to find out what model I managed to buy. Thanks in advance!
