Having weird camera issues/crashes... any fix?

DZHEX

Please tell us some basic information before asking for help:
Model Name: AI2201_C
Firmware Version:32.2810.2208.163
Rooted or not: not
Frequency of Occurrence: recently/always
APP Name & APP Version (If your issue relates to the app):
In addition to information above, please also provide as much details as you can, e.g., using scenario, what troubleshooting you've already done, screenshot, etc.
========================================
I just tried taking some pictures and the camera view started getting inverted and in a blue tone.

The phone was not moved between the pictures and the picture was not edited. This was happening with both, the default camera app and OpenCamera (why can we not use gamegenie to assign airtriggers to default camera actions, again?). Eventually the camera hanged and the phone rebooted. What's going on?
I updated the software recently, not sure if I used the camera until now after updating.
Edit: Forgot to mention that this happened first time after launching OpenCamera via squeeze gesture while the phone was locked, and it behaved... weirdly, not sure how it happened (I jumped up from a sofa to take the picture and got "flashbanged", so I'm not 100% sure what exactly happened and how 😅). I was unable to zoom out for some reason.
Edit: I am hearing some sort of clicking while the camera is active. I made sure that it isn't the horizon signal.

It's still happening. But I feel like the fingerprint reader's accuracy/reliability went down lol

I guess I will have to try to revert or perhaps get another update...

my mom said I'm special, too 😄

is there any useful information in this thread that might help figure this out? Is there some way for me to provide more information on the topic?

Also, do I have to factory reset for downgrading?

As i explained before its because the phone is trying to nuke the camera module, the clicking is the over current / voltage circuit preventing the phone from literally burning the camera. I already made countless topics of to not buy the Rog6 due to its copy and paste design of the Rog5, which was riddled with issues.
The only thing you can do is to downgrade the firmware, with that you can determine if this is due to software telling the phone to nuke the camera module since the .163 update or if its a hardware defect where a resistor simply doesnt do its job, my bet is on the latter.

I had this same issue. But mine was worse. The back camera wouldn't work at all. Front camera worked. But if I switched to back camera, there was loud "click" sounds, almost as if there was a shutter opening &, closing. Then it would say "camera app not loading please try again later". I cleared data cache etc, did factory reset/updated downgraded software, still same issue. I'm glad I ihad this issue as I wanted to return the phone anyway as it didn't meet my expectations. If I was you I would have the phone sent off for a refund or a repair. Try to get a refund as Asus repairs are dodgy

I tried the following versions, with factory resets in between, bearing in mind I had the phone in the last 10 days of July so I wasn't able to try any updates after .134 as I sent the piece of junk back to wherever it came from. I tried the following firmwares: .63, .95, .97 & .134.
It was definitely hardware issue. The phone would get crazy hot trying to load the back camera too.
Looking back, I'm glad it had the camera issue because I just don't like the phone. The camera issue got my refund back for me. I'm still rocking my rog 5 since last year may, it's had 0 issues apart form the software updates which as you know were a joke. And now the Huawei Mate 50 Pro is here which I mentioned couple months ago, will be ordering it next week 😆

Mind sharing some camera pics with the huawei?
Aight so its a hardware issue that will be widespread much like the wifi on rog5.
