I'm also having the same issue. Uploaded images for reference. Maroon(ish) tint happens mostly in grey areas with low brightness. Check URL Bar image taken in Chrome browser, other parts look fine while grey part of the Chrome looks dark maroon.
Well, this is a issue i also noticed and to confirm the display problem, i took a screenshot, sent it over my other phone( Moto G5+)(LCD display) and opened the screenshot image on both the phones at 0% brightness and below is the result image i took it from another phone. (I know quality is poor but the difference in color is noticeable).
The tint is visible everywhere where there is dark grey which is like all the google apps dark mode. And yes this is happening probably because they pushed amoled to 120hz. As for reference red tint on grey is visible in 0-40% range on 120hz while only visible in 0-20% on 60hz.
Also 50% brightness slider is around 15-20% of full panel brightness(475+ nits) without high brightness mode(600+ nits)
hey i have ordered mine, those who already got the phone talk to asus,i dont think its an hardware problem but if it is then we cant do anything after 10 days flipkart return policy i cant talk to asus right now as i am not having the phone,so those who have force th e company enough that they roll out an new update if its an software problem
I have a doubt does anyone in the status bar the icons are black and white? I play Pokémon Go and I received a notification and the icon is in black and white because in my older phone it was in colours
Hello there, Yeah AMOLED and LCD are different techs. So I'm attaching comparison with LG V30(OLED). Both set to equal brightness and similar color settings. Btw, tint can be reproduced anywhere with grey color.
to know whether it is a software or hardware issue. We can just flash a third party rom in asus rog 2 and see the results if the red tint is gone then it is software issues otherwise it is hardware problem. P.S i am planning to buy asus rog 2
Hello, does your volume rockers are loose and any heating issue? I have seen user having these issues. I have pre -ordered the phone and yet to receive it.
Hello again, with all due respect, if the issue doesn't bother you does not mean that others should accept it. I'm NOT okay with a display that shows one color as another. I'm not willing to settle if its an hardware issue. Its a big deal to me.Having a weird tint at certain parameters doesn't go along with ROG theme. It takes away the viewing experience. I don't think you should necessarily suggest others that its "Not a big deal" just because you are okay with it. As a user who paid premium(37k) I expect quality. Hope you understand.
@LP_ASUS Hi sir, i recently bought asus rog phone 2 in India and i did not update to the latest firmware. I am not seeing any red tint issue as of now. Most of them who are facing this issue have updated their software to the latest version. After updating to the latest version LED indicator option is not seen in the light management system. May be this Led indicator light might be causing the red tint. Can you check with the developers whether they can bring back the LED indicator option in the next firmware version and see whether the red tint fades after it.
The device is absolutely stunning , super fast, excellent design, fantastic weight balance. Top notch specs and incredible battery life. Thank you so much for keeping the 3.5mm jack which was so essential.
Its good to hear that you do not see red tint in grey areas with low brightness. Maybe as you said it may be due to latest update. Can you please post a image of notification bar(Pulled down) or Chrome Incognito Tab with brightness below 40% just for us to see? It would be a great relief to us if it is an software issue that can be fixed.
You feel the device heated cuz its effectively cooling down the device while maintaining its peak performance .. i.e "HEAT DISSIPATION" unlike my 7t it doesn't goes like 72 °c , the max temperature here is 56°c for cpu & 42 for battery which is very good !! In order to check these you can use the inbuilt temperature monitor from swiping left or you can use any third party apps like "Cpu temperature"

Dude an LCD and amoled and totally different techs amoled are organic meanwhile LCDs have a backlight
Every amoled has some sort of color shift, grey uniformity thing, and yes DC dimming is a thing too
It's more of a software overlay issue as the tint couldn't be reproduced anywhere else other than the notification panel
I have the same issue with the gray colours looking reddish but I think but I think is a SW problem with an update would be fixed

Hello, there! Yeah LCD and AMOLED are completely different techs to compare. So I'm attaching screen of LG V30(OLED) and ROG Phone 2.
ROG Phone 2(Left)- LG V30(Right). Same page in browser with similar brightness and color settings. Its obvious!

I don't see the issue tbh
The whole red tint thing goes with the Rog theme and it's barely noticeable
If it's SW it'll be fixed if it's HW not a big deal
