Laptop freezes before going to sleep. The cooler continues to rotate, the power indicator is on, the screen is off. Turning on the laptop turned out only by long pressing the power button. There are event log entries. No memory dump is generated.

An important clarification. The laptop freezes when you try to turn off the screen with the Fn + f7 key combination. The screen goes blank and the laptop can only be restarted by holding the power button for a long time.
Disable hibernation .
Did not help. Pressing Fn + f7 causes the laptop to freeze (not always). If the laptop is left on, it freezes before going to sleep or hibernation. And as I now understand it is connected with turning off the screen
The laptop turns off the screen, the power indicator remains on. You can turn on the laptop only after holding the power button for a long time.
Good afternoon. Any other ideas? Maybe upgrade the Intel® Management Engine? Currently, the only 100% working way is to keep the laptop screen on.
I am not sure after installing latest IME , will solve the screen problem or not,
But you can try it
Which version of Intel management engine firmware is flashed to your processor ?
Which version of Intel management engine interface driver is installed in windows?
according to intel inc, for intel i5 7th gen processor, users mustand should have Intel management engine firmware 18.104.22.16822, I can flash to next upgrade version, when its released to public.
I have latest Intel management engine interface driver v222.214.171.124
Note : Firmware means its like bios , which is directly flashed to intel processor, itcannot be reverted back,
Interface driver means can installed or uninstalled
Intel management engine interface driver 126.96.36.1995
Intel management engine firmware 188.8.131.5277
engine interface version is too old , you can download and install engine interface driver and its suite version from the below direct link
but i can't give a download link for the firmware version because your processor model is different.
there are eight types of version
CSME 11.8 CON H DA v184.108.40.20622
CSME 11.8 COR H DA v220.127.116.1122
CSME 11.8 CON LP C NPDM v18.104.22.16822
CSME 11.8 CON LP C YPDM v22.214.171.12422
CSME 11.8 COR LP C NPDM v126.96.36.19922
CSME 11.8 COR LP C YPDM v188.8.131.5222
CSME 11.8 SLM H DA v184.108.40.20677
CSME 11.8 SLM LP C NPDM v220.127.116.1177
Note:: this version 18.104.22.16877 is already flashed to your processor, so your model laptop comes under slim category with corporate users.
CON means Consumer series
COR means Corporate series
Driver updated. Is there anything else you can try?
And so, I most likely solved the problem. The laptop crashed when the display turned off. It didn't happen all the time, but quite often. It could be done by pressing the Fn + f7 key combination.
What was done:
1. Updated Intel management engine interface driver.
2. The laptop has a built-in card reader. I inserted the card and the Alcor Micro USB 2.0 Card Reader appeared. Installed the driver for it.
3. I disabled (without deleting) Intel(R) Audio for displays. I think that this item solved the problem.
The laptop has been working fine for over 2 days now. A little later I will try to clarify which item helped to solve the problem.
Good for working two days
And so, I clarified. Item 3. I disabled (without deleting) Intel(R) Audio for displays. Tried installing different drivers. As soon as you turn on Intel(R) Audio for displays, the problem appears. I read about it on the Intel community forum. Intel strongly recommends contacting an OEM for driver and hardware compatibility testing. But I highly doubt that Asus will do this. Why do I think that we are talking about incompatibility: some owners of this model had motherboards replaced (as part of warranty repairs). The problem didn't go away.
That means Asus should release compatible drivers and should work with laptop embedded hardwares..
I too have doubt. Because Asus does not released updated drivers for my laptop model.
Even I used to install generic drivers from hardware manufacturers
