Please tell us some basic information before asking for help:

  1. Model Name: ASUS ROG Phoned 5S Pro
  2. Firmware Version: 18.1220.2201.186
  3. Rooted or not: No
  4. Frequency of Occurrence: Everytime the device have all apps closed, the AeroActiveCooler 5 is attached and when the screen goes to sleep after 15 seconds the device goes black and reboots
  5. APP Name & APP Version (If your issue relates to the app):

In addition to information above, please also provide as much details as you can, e.g., using scenario, what troubleshooting you've already done, screenshot, etc.

After updating last night the device keeps on rebooting itself whenever it's idle for 15 seconds and the AeroActiveCooler 5 is attached. No issues before the update and when other accessories like the Lightning Armor Case are attached. Just have an issue with the AeroActiveCooler 5 with the latest update.

  • @LaurelLParas Thanks for reaching out to us. This is a known issue that will be fixed in an upcoming firmware update. For now, please avoid letting your device go to sleep with the fan attached.

  • Me to I have Rog 5s pro Firmware Version:18.1220.2201.186 I'm facing the same issue and black screen freez with moving theams i have to hold the power and volume to restart my phone

Bad update guys you have to fixed soon.

  • Are you serious with this minimalist response?

As you may not know yet, this reboot is caused by other USB devices, OTG, headset, earphone from light standby.

The multiplication of reboots causes more serious problems and requires a restart with the volume +- keys.

In clear terms, this phone is no longer usable and your answer is to wait for a new Firmware, around April or so.

You do not offer any solution to roll back to the previous firmware?.

    Have you blocked firmware distribution?

Have you checked that it will not be the same case for the normal ROG 5 (Non S), according to my experience as a developer there is no reason that the problem is not identical, the platform being almost identical.

Have you put more important means to distribute a new Firmware in the days that follow.

Must I remind you this is your premium ROG series phone, your showcase of mobile gaming.

  • @Abdulsalam To be clear, this is when you have the AeroActive Cooler fan connected?

  • This problem is already identified by your services, it concerns other USB devices such as OTG and USB headsets.

Connecting the other devices that can make do with the lower USB will not have this problem.

You can also consult the Chinese section, the moderators have had confirmation from ASUS support services, and their responses to users are also unsatisfactory, limited to waiting for a next Firmware.

Please don't leave my questions unanswered.

@FunBike31 Yes, FOTA rollout has been stopped in response to this issue while the team works on a fix. I can't give an ETA at this time for when the next update will be ready. I understand the severity of the issue and apologize for any inconvenience caused.

  • I still use the AeroActiveCooler 5 while gaming, doing other tasks or while charging. I just have to make sure that I detached it before closing all app and leaving the phone on idle or it will reboot after 15 seconds when the screen goes to sleep. I have no issues attaching other accessories like the Lightning Armor Case.

I have exactly the same problem with my ROG 5s pro in combination with the Fan. I hope we get the update soon

  • I connected my Aero Active Cooler 5 and an update pop-up and instructed me not to disconnect the device. Is that the fix? The phone restarted again after that.

  • No, this is not the solution because it is difficult to prevent the phone from going to sleep and in this case it will restart if there is a device connected to the side USB socket.

While waiting for a new firmware, do not connect any peripherals to the side USB socket, this includes headphones, an OTG cable and AeroActiveCooler. Use the lower USB port while waiting.

If the phone restarts anyway, you can extend the time before standby to the maximum and configure the display to remain on under load.

It must be possible to go back to .175 but Android checks that the firmawre N° is higher than the previous one I think, this requires modifying files or that ASUS redistributes the .175 version with a N° higher than .186, which allow to analyze in depth the problem of the .186

  • Also without connected The Aero ,all moving theams freeze when the screen Go black , And something else my AUX headphone 🎧 make big noise for the first input and I have to remove it many times to be clear , for your know I'm using a new Astro A40 Tournament headphone and that's happening after the new update please fix it soon ...

  • @Abdulsalam Got it. I'll send you instructions on how to log your device, along with some follow-up questions, via PM. Check your inbox here on Zentalk.

The same problem... Yesterday my phone shutdown with AeroActiveCooler and I can't restart for 1 hour.

    Asus ROG Phone 5S Pro

  • My Japan ROG Phone 5s (12/256) suddenly reboot too...

  • Check often if there is an update available on your Rog 5 S, a new Firmware (.192) is in the beginning of distribution to solve this problem
