Hey @Irene2_ASUS I don't get your PM so I'm gonna assume you don't need my log and those mentioned users will suffice even though I'm the OP and also replied your comment first and told you the suggestion didn't work out for me.
Same here. Either too bright or too dark. I have to re-adjust the automatic setting manually quite often. Sudden change from low to bright during use in dark surroundings. Slow or no reaction to change in external light. No change after reset like irene advised. No problems before update (a little slow reaction to changing ambient light from the beginning though...)
@redavenger99@Gustav_ASUS Updated to version .62, testing it for 5 minutes and so far so good. I think the issue fixed but let's wait for 24hr. I'll let you guys know tomorrow.
No problemo! But it seems version .62 fix it. An hour after update my auto brightness works properly now. Need to test it for 24hr and I'll let everyone know the result tomorrow.
OTA yes. But I'm talking about .zip with update which has to be installed from internal memory. For example for people who have unlocked BL's or just prefer to install all files coming from older FW's.
Hello guys, perhaps this is the last comment from OP here..
After 24hr of testing, it seems with latest update (version .62) the problem has resolved. The difference with version .46 that the brightness level or limit is a bit brighter with this update (.62). I can say on version .46 it's great when you're in a pitch black room because the sensor automatically reduced to the lowest brightness. For version .62, it's best when you're in a room with normal or brighter lighting. If I can suggest, take or combine .46 and .62 adaptive brightness patch to the next update and I can assure we can have the best brightness sensor or auto brightness settings on Zenfone 8.
For random reboot, so far not experience it anymore. Although on previous crappy version (.56), my device reboot randomly for 3 times and after that...no more. Strange...

like others, I also noticed a problem with the light sensor.
new update is out...maybe it fixes the issue?
@redavenger99 AFAIK the new update does not address any potential issues with adaptive brightness, but let me know if it's better/different.
Just upgraded. It seems so...

Finger crossed.
If it is not about fixing brightness what is new update about?

Well then.. happy Friday! 🤗

Could you please ask devs to reupload .zip with .62 update. It should be about 3GB but it is 1,2GB instead.
It looks like it's corrupted or upload hasn't been finished correctly.

Thank you in advance.
Update size was around 160MB.
