Yes other people have reported issues

Not sure if the latest update has fixed it

  • I really like the phone. Don't wanna sell it. I hope Asus will fix this via an update, but they are moving sooooo slow ... I'll try the downgrade to A10 maybe that will solve it

  • Downgrading to A10 solved the GPS issue. Now I'll wait for the update to fix this issue. Hope Asus will bdo right by it's customers

I can confirm this on the current newest update. I had GPS dropouts, maps would update my position only every 5-10 seconds or so. I fixed it by fiddling with GPS options, mainly turning on and off wifi and Bluetooth scanning

  • kr0mkakr0mka Level 2

Just to bump the issue up again, I had it happen again today, my position was updating only like every 500 meters or so making the navigation barely usable. This time turning the location and wifi/bluetooth scanning on/off didn't help at all.

I have the same issue kr0mka describes. I had to use my gf's op nord 2 to reach the destination, because the GPS was unusable... Fix It ASAP. The device has already too many flaws.

You've got to get used to being ignored for months on end. Maybe when A12 is released it'll be fixed.

Same problem on my Asus Rog Phone 3.

Why did this other thread got closed ?

    https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/49140/gps-inaccuracy-since-beginning-of-may

The issue is still there and it's a real problem. GPS just keeps jumping around while on foot or driving, it's totally unreliable...

Please report it to the tech team so they look at it.

Some troubleshooting questions and steps you can take:

    • Make sure that Google Maps / Waze has location permissions set to 'Allow all the time'.
    • Make sure Google Location Accuracy is enabled. (Settings -> Location)
    • Clear cache files system-wide. (Settings -> Advanced -> Mobile manager -> Cleanup)
    • Clear the cache of the LocationServices system app.
    • Make sure both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning is enabled in Location settings.
    • If none of the steps above improve GPS performance and you haven't performed a factory reset, please do so.

If nothing works I will send you instructions on how to log your device and we'll take a closer look at what's happening.

I did all that, I'll see how it goes later today when going back home.

Note : Google Location Accuracy and Wi-Fi/BT scanning were enabled, Google Maps and Pokémon Go had location permission to "Allow all the time". LocationServices did not have cache to clear (already cleared ?)

Yesterday my phone logged about 10 Km done walking according to Google Maps' timeline... (I usually do less than 6 Km). My trip from home to work is 1.4 Km long, I do it 4 times a day, so about 5.6 Km, but yesterday it recorded one of 1.3 Km (going through buildings ?!), two of 1.9 Km with some random back and forth, and one huge of 4.6 Km with tons of back and forth everywhere, like if it did have a very bad GPS signal. It was a clear sunny day.

The worst thing is that this happens randomly, using my phone or not.

The issue is not Maps nor Pokémon Go, even using any other GPS app show issues when this happens.

I won't reset my phone, I'd prefer starting from scratch with another phone (and brand) than having to reset my phone each time Asus can't resolve their issues.

  • @morenomiguel1986 Thanks. I'll send you the instructions on how to generate a device log. Check your Zentalk inbox.

  • I sent a log and video as I had GPS issues going back home tonight, hope this helps.

  • @morenomiguel1986 @Synoxia @kr0mka

We're aiming to improve GPS performance with the next FOTA. Please get back to me with your feedback once you've had a chance to try it out.

  • Thank you. Can you look After battery issues aswell? Other 865 90hz phones are performing much better. I get the most drain when i'm on 4g, and we don't have the same throttling features ZenUI8 have, as long as proper AoD... I would like to reduce my phone's Power, especially under direct sunlight, to avoid overheating.

  • So when will this FOTA be released?

I moved back to A10 to have functional GPS, but I'd really like to move back to A11

  • The gps finally works after months of complains.

    Thanks ASUS.

  • For now it works well, finally.

The 3 trips from today showed no issue at all, but sometimes it could be good the whole day. Let's see after a few days.

  • Wohoooo, GPS s is working again. Next area to improve, is the camera. When starting to record a video in 4k 60, it has a heavy studder for few seconds and the picture processing could be better, the processor can handle it, for sure. Maybe learn from Huawei ;)
