I have anew Zenfone 8 and would like to watch pictures taken with my camera on a large Android TV. How can I establish a connection without a cable?

It depends on your tv, I recommend you to check out google home app on the Play Store.
Do the screencast or Cast screen directly from you smartphone to android TV
You will find it under the settings menu
use the search box under settings and type the word cast and you will get it
