Nah just upgrade to android 10 version .147 then to android 11. That is the safe route, staying on an old version means your security patches are also out of date. There was a big security flaw that was fixed last year which youre not protected against with a firmware that old.

Yea i remember by my s7edge getting an update out the blue after a long time and it was a security update regarding some serious issue
