Google Maps crashing

I just got the phone and generally everything is working ok, however Google Maps crashes as soon as you try to open it. Is this a known issue?
This is a US model and the current software version is WW_30.11.51.67.

No, it is not a known issue - does it still persist after a reboot.

And/or if you clear the Google Maps app cache/storage?
