Sound improvement on Android 10, WW-17.2018.2012.434 firmware
Option for Windows 10:
1. Install Minimal ADB and Fastboot. (I installed adb-setup-v1.5.2).
2. Go to: Settings - About phone - Find the build number and tap on it several times until you see: "now you are a developer."
3. We go: System -For developers - USB debugging - Turn on.
4. We connect the phone to the computer (without turning off the phone), a message will appear like: enable USB debugging - allow. Android Composite ADB Interface will appear in Device Manager.
5. Run PowerShell as administrator and enter the commands:
adb devices
adb shell pm list packages
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 dk.icepower.icesound or, if you want to completely remove: adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 dk.icepower.icesound
6. After restarting the device and check the sound.
I managed to fix the sound.
Comments
And what about low sound from earpiece and speaker while calling
I have no problem with that. The bell yells loudly, and everything is perfectly audible during a conversation.
When using bluetooth headphone no problem?
JBL Bluetooth headphones - the sound is excellent. The sound is louder in the wired.
The sound is loud, but it only amplifier the mids and highs, suppressing the bass.
Just hear a bass boosted song on youtube via wired earphones, you will feel the difference.
Pie 087 did not have this issue, but 438 is really bad in bass via wired headphones.
Bluetooth is a different story: performance via bluetooth is really good, with good bass, mids and treble
I did this now brother, it does improve sound output from bad to below average.
Using wired headphones.
When volume is increased, only the highs and mids increase, whereas bass is suppressed. In pie 087, this never happened, it was amazing, in line with output i get from a laptop.
Audio via bluetooth is very good in 438, it's the headphone jack output that has been affected in the bass notes.
Hope Asus fixes this, just like you did in Pie. @Christine_ASUS
Hi akshay.ruparel
Thank you for your asking. Does the situation remain the same in different cable earphones?
If you prefer Android 9 audio performance with your earphones, you may follow the steps below as 10 to 9 downgrade steps.
1. Download "Version MaxProM1_downgrade_to_9" and then put the image file into the root directory of the MicroSD card.
https://www.asus.com/supportonly/ZenFone%20Max%20Pro(M1)(ZB602KL)/HelpDesk_BIOS/
2. Insert MicroSD card into phone and then power off the device.
3. Long press with "Power" key and "Volume Down" key together and stop after feel the vibration to enter Recovery Mode
4. Use "Volume Down/Up" key and press "Power" key to choose "Apply update from external storage"
5. Select the downgrade file
6. When the updating process is done, Choose "Wipe data/factory reset" and tap"Yes" to perform the master clear.
7. "Wipe cache partition" > "Yes"
8. "Reboot system now"

Besides, please avoid any overlapping message or thread, which may disturb the mods and the users to solve the issue.
I used Boult audio, Boat wireless earphones + JBL Flip 2 Speaker and even connected to a sound system through aux. The sound is crap in both Aux as well as Bluetooth. I'm on Max Pro M2 ( 438 )
Using boult audio myself, disabled icepower for better sound. No issues encountered due to disabling it . Dont know why asus is still clingning to it.

Hi @Christine_ASUS
Thanks for replying.
Apart from audio, I really do like the other features that android 10 brings (v438) .
So currently in a dilemma on downgrading.
I love the audio performance of android 9(via Aux) .
Can you please confirm if the wired audio output will be improving in the next beta/stable update?
If you only have sound issue, you can check “ADB commands” solutions on YouTube.
The system maintenance of this device is probably finished. A device normally is taken care of for 18 months, and MPM1 had been maintained for 32 months since 2018.
Hi @Deannnnn
I guess all im asking is to *retain* the audio output of pie in A10.
It will be a perfect upgrade then.
"The system maintenance of this device is probably finished"--
Is this mean you will accept anything if Asus damage softwares and release it to customers. We have to keep calm and shouldn't ask to rectify this?
"A device normally is taken care of for 18 months, and MPM1 had been maintained for 32 months since 2018."--
So, Asus maintained so far hence, they should finally leave the device with bugs?
As far as I know the support for the device is yet not ended.
Yeaahh, its work !!! @Christine_ASUS
This helped. Thank you.
I thought asus not recommend it. But hell, it did make the audio better than before.
Yup, definitely a noticeable difference.
I downgraded to Pie 060 😔
Got OTAs till 087.
Only when one downgrades to pie, one can know what's missing in the audio department!
Even 060 pie is better than 438 a10 in terms of audio output.
My analysis of a10 audio (wired only)
1. With icesound - totally unbearable. Only highs, with less mids and no bass.
2. Without icesound - below average, still not acceptable. Even an 7k phone has better bass output than .438. The sound is just loud, but if you use an equaliser, the overall audio output just decreases! So weird. Never heard such superficial bass.
Audio definitely needs improvement on a10.
On the positive side, i did not face any major bugs in A10.
However, the back navigation gesture (swipe from the edges) suddenly stopped working once 🤷♂️
Had to restart to fix it.
For a newbie, I tried to do it as per your in instructions but the last part of the command I keep getting an error.
(Unknown command: disable-user --user) I'm new at this, sorry for the inconvenience what am I doing wrong? The first two commands I got But (adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 dk.icepower.icesound) keeps coming up as an error.
