It seems to me that there may be both a software problem and hardware, sitting on similar forums saw a similar problem and there was a defect in the touch screen, it was replaced under warranty

Try chinese rom first then see if it resolves it. Its more than likely a software problem as you already mentioned tencent phone with global rom, many of those phones are flashed badly.
