Ultrabook UX301LA - USB Elan Fingerprint not loading.

Detailed description：Device Manager does not list Biometric Devices but Elan fingerprint listed under Other Devices but with error and no associated driver. Have tried downloading and installing driver from manufacturer but it will not load.

Yes, my bios is updated to the latest version.
But rather than take it to a service centre (not sure where one is) what are the possible reasons for the usb fingerprint reader not loading the driver and why is there no biometric devices shown in device manager?
