Brand New ROG 3 came with a battery with no charge

I just got my brand new ROG 3 strix edition and I am a bit concerned. First thing I noticed is that it had no protective film on the screen and the battery was totally dead so much so that it would not fire up until I had it on its charger for 5 minutes or so. Is this normal. I have had tons of New phones before and this is the first one that came like this. I am wondering if this particular phone has been sold to someone else and returned??????????

The version is actually 17.0823.2007.32 not even 2009 ???? Go figure??? I may just have to wait until they push the updates through, but I will keep trying

You won't get updates as it's a tencent version with flashed global rom. There are warnings for those versions here on the forums about not buying those phones.

So how can I tell if it was flashed incorrectly. From The little research I've done as long as it has been flashed correctly I should get OTA updates . Any idea how to check

This phone has a WW Infront of the firmware version and from what I've read it should get updates. What is the ROG 3 called that aren't CN global flashed versions. I'm thinking of taking a hit ( financially) and selling it on eBay but I'm not sure what the phones that come in the odd shaped box are called

Hey the link I shared was to go from .78 to .98 (direct ota but you need to be on .78)
.32 which you're on is an older firmware
I'll link the full fw here to .98 (it should work imo)
