@veeharish2005 you are correct. one of the updates of the hotfix update in the decription also says "optimized the dynamic camera effect" i dont even know what that means?
i have also discovered that when I do facebook live, or instagram live, it uses the wide angle camera which makes for unflatering skin tones amd there is no option to use the main camera. i am starting to look for a new phone. this phones software is letting me down. now that my bootloader is unlo ked my google pay doesnt work as well. its heartbreaking. literally spent 1000 dollars for endless frustrations. dont get me wrong, the whole idea of what thos phone is supposwd to be is amazing, however the execution and the whole ASUS zenfone 7 pro experience has not been great. but I do feel the power of the snapdragon 865+ . its such a shame. it has been weeks of struggle and the most difficult part is that if i downgrade to the previous firmware, i have to reinstall and update my 165 applications on my phone whoch literally takes 6 hours of my life.
It's not using the wide-view camera on my device. Can you please screen record your device and compare ASUS camera app to instagram live.
Currently there are no plans on decreasing the sharpness but I'm not closing the door either. The current result is very similar in sharpness to that what you get from Gcam and most users love Gcam. So even though I do understand your dilemma, we can't make this change just because there are two or three people in this thread who agrees with you.
I'm sorry about your unlock and downgrade experience but as I understand it, you've already received instructions on how to go back to A10?
Thank you for your reply @Anders_ASUS but whatever lens it is using it is quite dark and it is obvious that its quality is inferior. Thanks for letting me know that my issue with sharpness will not be addressed, this means that I will be staying with 29.12.18.14 .
But from my understanding the camera will no longer work on November 1? What will happen to me if I stay at my old firmware?
I understand most users like gcam, but it is not flattering to the skin. Why do you fix something that is not broken? The main reason I spent 1000 dollars is because it was great quality for selfie.
I am now looking to move on to another mobile which is a sad truth. The Zenfone 7 pro is good for taking photos with surroundings, but as a selfie vlogging gadget it fails for me. So I am staying at 29.12.18.14
Now that I have downgraded again, I am setting it up and reinstall and login all my emails and accounts, which will take me 6 hours again 😂 life is tough with Zenfone definitely I have no ZEN . I am now regretting leaving my note 20 ultra
@Anders_ASUS all third party apps use the ultra wide sensor zoomed in as selfie camera. It looks like the main sensor but it is not. You can compare a selfie using the zenfone camera app and a selfie using WhatsApp for instance.
@laurent.francois.elie yes that is what I thought. I agree, I have read this somewhere. I hope my queries will be answered. My future with Zenfone is looking not too bright. They were true when they say they improved the camera, because they did improved the camera showing all your flaws in HD 😂
My main concern now is that I will stay @ firmware version 29.12.18.14 but what will to me by Nov 1 ? Will the camera stop working altogether? Because I will not be taking the hotfix update

ASUS seriously...
we are back to Dirty looking skins
It is a hot fix so it will not have that much bug fixes and camera optimization.

It could have optimized dynamic range or ai scene detection feature but I don't know for sure.

This issue is under investigation according to the moderators.
My bootloader is still locked however i'm in the exact situation. The device is good, hardware talking but the software choices are bad.

With my Samsung note, it takes good Facebook live and Instagram live and good WhatsApp pictures. With Zenfone it looks like I'm using a cheap phone
The second photo looks like after a cheap Photoshop retouch (plastic skin). From these two, I prefer the first one.
He is talking about the 3rd party apps using the wide angle issue.
In this thread(in the comments), a developer of a Google camera mod explains the issue.
My main concern now is that I will stay @ firmware version 29.12.18.14 but what will to me by Nov 1 ? Will the camera stop working altogether? Because I will not be taking the hotfix update
We need to know what that licensing does to know if your camera will stop working or not.
@Anders_ASUS do you have any information about the licensing provided in the new update?
Actually, with 29.12.18.14, it's safe to stay. It will keep on working
True. I was too fast to reply. Holding my finger over the wide view camera, I confirmed your statement and I've checked that it's by design.
There are multiple reasons and it makes sense for 3rd party devs to apply more optimization to the bigger brands.
