Before this update my ROG have this issue before.. and the dev nothing to do to fix this.. when I charge my ROG2 it automatically shutdown, the worst thing after this update it wont charge the device when temp reach 57° above after that the device shutdown and wait to cooldown the temp then it will charge again.. I bought this phone to enjoy my gaming experience but I think its not enjoyable at all.. fucking phone.. sucks...
Just to also add another affected app into the mix (which I also did in Chinese Zentalk)
TraceTogether, a COVID-19 contact tracing app developed by GovTech, tech group of Singapore Government.
It could go for a day with only 2mAh or so used daily. Now it eats up 1700mAh! (And it is a Bluetooth dependent app without even needing GPS and constant 4G)
This is the app since Friday (I use SystemPanel 2 to monitor in addition to the native battery screen under settings)
For the last 2 images, I made a point that the app never shows up in the top draining apps (circled alongside "unaccounted", and if you see Thursday which is 1 day before my update, it only used 3mAh.
Now it's using 1800mAh! Oh and today on Saturday, I didn't even play Brawl Stars at all.
i got those high peak clock cpu in new firmware make the phone warm and batery drain
after read all page of this thread. i am trying force stop, clear data and cache and try make those apps restrict.. The asus boost, hardware stub service, Fota service really consume high battery in their individual apps. at last in my phone this step work for me now. just in case dont forget to clear data and cache from Play Service and Store
you can find those apps in application and notification look the three dots in right upper and select show system
I am having the same issue... Battery drained from 85% to 2% in 7hrs overnight.
83% battery drain by android system!!?? Screen on time was29min only but battery drain was 98% I too have the heating issue. All this after I updated day before yesterday.
I was having same issue after i updated to android 10 i thought that after few days of uses it will get normal then i waited for updates after update same issue battery drain , high ideal cpu uses and device heating while doing nothing , at last I finally downgrade to Android 9 and all the issues as solved . I suggest you to downgrade to android 9 , and wait for Android 10 issue to be solved then upgrade back to android 10 . After downgrade to Android 9 I am getting around 10 hours screen on time . Much better than android 10 .

OMG HAHA
What a bad joke asus with that update.....
So to summarize:
If your phone heats up do the following:
Search in settings for FOTA Service and terminate it.
Restart your phone
Do not download, update, or trigger any automatic app management operations.
Or basically any tasks that may trigger
Asushardwarestup
FOTA SERVICE
GOOGLE PLAY SERVICES
Am I right ??
This bit worked for me! So thanks!
"I just solved this by switching off all app monitoring systems like:
Opti-Flex
Battery Draining Detection
App auto-start prevention"

Yeah. This poor guys are freakin out for nothing. Just stop auto update in Google Play. Problem solved until next update.
Google Play Services updates itself.
