Well done Asus . Most of the problem has gone from my phone. In medium brightness very little still exits but its a manageable level so it's good for media consumption. Probably another update can solve it completely but it's great now . Don't see much issue with the screen now
Almost every bugs i personally accounted for are also fixed 😁
Got to settings, system , and system update
Where are you located in the world? Maybe I have to use my vpn to recieve update.
Taiwan can update to (.70)~
60hz had very minimal issue. If you test more on different brightness levels and different frequency, lower brightness levels true blacks have become grey at 120 and 144hz. If thats ok for a amoled panel having high freq kudos to you. For me it's still an issue that can be fixed with FOTA.
@Sunaina I have a OnePlus 8 pro at my home and there's no problem with it. It's perfectly alright and has none of the problems mentioned by you and other OnePlus 8 pro users. That's is what I am using to compare with this and it has really good black crush management on all brightness and refresh rates. I didn't have to lose anything. But I have to let go of contrast on this phone which I don't know if I can.
Me in India
@ARP_ASUS @Gustav_ASUS I am attaching an image how colour band is shown on ROG 3 as compared to my old OP5T device. Both devices are at 50% brightness and 60Hz. If you look closely you can see how the there is just black color on ROG 3 as compared to gradual grey to black in OP5T. This is the issue that i see system wide. The blacks are ok but the issue is where the colors are not compete black they are dark shades of grey but Rog 3 shows them as black which creates a typical and weird colour. I hope you understand this. This is on latest 70 update.
This remains moreover same on all Refresh rates and brightness combinations.
Ohk mine had a lot of issues (replacement too)
A guy I know got one (August manufacturing date) that had issues too
And all OnePlus did was increase minimum brightness for black crush
I posted my experience on OnePlus telegram group and reddit and found out that it was pretty widespread and oneplus wasn't doing anything about it,hence many including me got a refund
It wasn't just the black crush tho,I had tint, punch hole black bar,and weird display artifacts and uneven tint ,the thing I'm glad on rog is even tint 🤞
You gain some you lose some
I'm fine with this tho, depends on you btw
Low brightness black crush has been solved and I I'm fine with a bit greyish darks at high brightness so it's a fair trade for me
Yeah, the phone is now ok-ish for media consumption. But before this update it was unusable. But I just can't live with the fact that when I watch HDR ( or anything for that matter ), there's no black at high brightness at which the content looks it's best.
Yeah, I can see the washed out colors in that portion. But only on minimum brightness
Thanks for the confirmation.
Thank you for your feedback so far. We're continuously trying to improve the display calibration and your input is important to us.
This update is great. Well done Asus but it's still far from perfect. The screen is now decent and I can deal with the remaining black crush, but theres some issues at around 40-50% brightness which hopefully can be fixed later down the road.
This is a massive improvement. Thanks for listening to us, but hopefully this isn't the end of the updates since those remaining issues do need to be ironed out.
Between thanks for the support so far.
The Black Crush issue is still there nothing changed... And when u turn your brightness down dark or grey collors turns brown or red wtf asus.. is it true that you could fix this issues or your just denying that its really a hardware problem....
I also have this issue on lowest brightness with few apps like Youtube, Gallery, Netflix.
The bug you're referring to is common in netflix and you need to swipe several times with the right speed to succeed. So it only happens if you're looking for it. Also, this lowest brightness is too dark to be usable even in a pitch black room so you wouldn't stay at this brightness if you want to watch anything.
