Question: Will Zenfone 6 get the new, gorgeous-looking Zen UI 7 updates?

@Anders_ASUS since you asked , the members of zenfone 6 telegram community have made a list of pretty basic features we would like to have with a11 , nothing huge , just small additions..

1. Pro video mode for camera

Both 5z and zf7 have this feature , but it has been left out on zf6 , the videography on this phone is very good with really good stabilization , but due to lack of a pro mode for video we aren't able to take best advantage of the video capabilities , pro mode will help us set manual focus and iso locking with videos just like we could on 5z and zf7.

2.Accent color themes 

Just like without zenfone 7 , those 8 colors which u can chose to apply throughout the entire ui , ig it's a part of the zenui7 update already.

3.Option to launch 3rd party apps with smartkey

The zenfone 7 has this , pressing snartkey can be assigned to opening any app , this would be extremely useful use case for the smart key.

4.The new battery care options , with slow charging and charge limit options , I'm assuming this also is part of the zenui7 update already.

5.We have noticed that the zenfone 7 has an optional secondary ui design for the quick settings panel , one where the bubbles slide down more than usual with clock on top.

The one handed quick settings style , we'd like to have it as it will be more convenient for one handed usage.

6.Updated game genie app with on screen frame rate display , this was an rog only feature but the zenfone 7 has it now , we'd like to have it too.

7.A toggle on the quick settings panel to switch the preffered sim for mobile data. Extremely useful for people with mobile data plans on 2 sims , just a single tap would switch the preffered data sim , zenfone 5z has this.

8.Toggle to turn off distortion correction on ultrawide camera , the distortion correction on the ultrawide camera is killing off a lot of details and smearing up the image , I'm guessing we can get bit more quality in the image with distortion correction disabled , as the image won't stretched in the corners like it does with correction on.

9.Another simple but extremely useful suggestion for camera , please add this.

As of now we have 3 HDR options available

Them being : HDR OFF , HDR+ (AUTO) , HDR++

What we don't have is a "force hdr+ on" option

That is an option to keep the regular hdr+ on all the time , which is different from the current option we have which automatically decides whether to use hdr+ or not

Really hoping that you would take our suggestions and add these with our updates.

@Anders_ASUS To add to what Hrishikesh has already mentioned, these set of requests come from a telegram group of 6z users which has a strength of 750+ . We have consolidated, curated and posted the list of features which we as a group felt were feasible and would vastly improve the user experience. We hope the requests are taken seriously by the dev team. Thanks a ton !

We're definitely going to do some of the stuff you want but I can already now say that the camera features won't change. ZF7 and ZF6 camera are not the same so the code base is different. Meaning that we can't just lift over features like pro video mode from ZF7.
To be able to turn off distortion correction wouldn't result in much better edge detail so no one would ever turn it off even if this option existed.
Same thing with force HDR. The normal HDR function won't necessarily result in a better image and we want to have as few buttons/options as possible for a cleaner UI. This question has already been discussed and considered many times but the conclusion is that it won't happen.
We're also not going to add any bouncy bouncy UI effects. That's not our way.
But I thank you for your suggestions. We do value them and I believe you will be very happy with the many changes that follow in ZenUi 7.
You're most welcome to add more suggestions in this thread if anything comes to mind but do remember to keep it constructive and with a good explanation so it's easy for me to understand why it's important to you

@Anders_ASUS I always find your reply crystal clear and you are not like others company mod...thx
But being z6 flagship we expect some features like all other company do. Just dont break my phone hardware that is more important to me than a10 or a11 or hunder of juck feature. But we do need app specific features like listed below so we feel we are using primium phone and not just 5k juck phone
I requested few feature earlier...if u can throw some lights on it if z6 will have those. Not planning to upgrade z7...maybe next year with z8
1) Screen cast with screen off to save battery and its logical too why anyone want to see phone screen while casting ??
2) Network strength indicator on wifi like if my phone is connected hotspot which is 4g+ should show on wifi itself. I saw this feature in some opo phones with colour os 7.2.
3) Camera option in screen recording. this is a must feature we need as more and more we are doing online stuff so sometime i need to present ppt with audio and i use screen recorder but i need to show my small video in a small window so that it become more interactive and expression full.
4) Like we have screen recorded...can we have just audio recorder as well. Like recording whatever is the output of ny phone speaker. Sometime i feel i am missing it.

It has some features that I've asked almost since Zenfone 6 release about real charging limits instead of weird battery care scheduler. Others also wanted slow charging support. They said they'll take note. And what? A year later and the feature lands straight away in brand new zenfone 7 while we never had any real feature update (only OS). Just tell me that Zenfone 7 can open any app via smart button (great for task scheduling) which was considered too hard on 6. I'm kinda pissed for Asus' software department mess. This is the first reason NOT to buy Zenfone series. Let's take a look at other brands:

Oneplus (i.e 7/pro) - many oxygenOS updates and improvements like brand new battery management features

Samsung (not only S/Note series) - regular updates and patches to OneUI, open ecosystem of updated apps which enables even depriciated phones' users to get new functionalities

Xiaomi (all except low-end) - MIUI is being updated multiple generations on flagships, features also open ecosystem with independent apps that are being updated via Store

I understand that Asus has definitely smaller smartphone lineup but that shouldn't be an excuse to leave everything as it is on current gen. Good thing we'll at least have 2 major OS updates (not that this is pretty standard to flagship phones, right?)

Asus takes a long time to update Android with respect to these brands. It was supposed to haver realeased 11 with ZUI 7. Now the new seriously with the 7 and 7 pro will be the new antics with the next version of Android, because the pro will receive and the other wil not.
