After use of 1 month this phones camera works slow portrait mode woks slow one single picture takes 4sec to process which is very slow 48mpx also do same, if we compare with one+, image process time is too slow of 6z
Did all clear catche s wipe data but no use.
This problem related to core software asus need to work very hard on their software part to sortout such issues, phone packed with huge powerful hardware units but lack in os, like Samsung one UI, Huaweis EMUI and one+ oxygen os, asus shd work on os part Or els they wil soon loose again in Mobile market

  • Lets not get too far ahead and predict the company's future here. But yes the camera processing time needs a lot of work. It's too slow and many times the moment I try to capture is just missed due to the slow processing
  • It is slow for sure

Even asus know this problems but no reply here it indicates a Major flow related to hardware

Yeah, right.. I have my phone almost a month, 48Mpix shoots slower because of high resolution image. Normal photos 12Mpix with binning are fast to me
  • It's infuriating though how the moderators have completely ghosted owner community of their flagship for the launch of a goddamn gaming phone.

Yeah.. This is not a big community for now so it is relatively easy to manage. Honestly I don't see any difference between now and let's say 2 weeks ago. Users don't get fast enough answers and they're starting with theories. These sudden mobo death threads are quite worrying though.
  • Are you running the current firmware version? A guide on how to check is located here https://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1035629/, and the download link is available here https://www.asus.com/us/Phone/ZenFone-6-ZS630KL/HelpDesk_Download/

How are you storing the photos? Using internal storage instead of a MicroSD will give you the fastest capture/storage speed.

What camera app are you using? If you are using the built in camera app (PixelMaster), you can update it here https://www.asus.com/us/Phone/ZenFone-6-ZS630KL/HelpDesk_Download/.

Yeah well this is actually an issue. Everything is up to date on my phond
  • I need more information to give to the engineers for them to be able to investigate. Ok, so your firmware and apps are up to date. But what app are you using to take the pictures? The default PixelMaster or a third party? Are you storing the photos on the default internal storage or on a MicroSD card?

The more people that report this issue and can give me detailed information on their use case, the faster we should be able to turn around a solution. We'd like for you to have responsive image processing as well. Losing the moment you wanted to capture because it takes too long to take a picture is a terrible experience.
  • Alright. I'm using the stock camera app and I'm storing my photos on internal storage. When I click the shutter button it processes for a second and then takes a shot. When I'm in a car, or clicking moving subjects, that often makes me miss the moment. I've been refraining for using the 48 MP mode for 2 reasons. One is that it takes so long to click, the other that it completely looses dynamic range post processing in even the slightest 9f challenging light conditions (like indoor with artificial light). Let's hope these problems are fixed

Normal photo speed is similar to most other phones. There can be a couple of milliseconds difference depending on which phone you compare with.
In portrait mode, we do processing with data from both cameras to do real depth sensing (not just software) and this takes more time. All of this processing is of course to give you the best picture possible. Portrait mode is not meant to capture action so if it is important to capture the right moment, then please use the normal photo mode.
With that said, I will still ask our developers to see if they can find a way to decrease the processing time.

Portrait mode is no issue at all. It's beautiful with great edge detection. I think 48MP mode is too slow
  • 48mp will never be as fast as normal 12mp Photo mode. The speed of all modes might improve in future updates but you should always use Photo mode when you need to take a fast photo
