About crashing issues

This thread is to highlight the crashing issue that has plagued Zenfone 6 since the 167 FOTA update. Please, whoever is having this issue, leave a comment stating the same under this thread so the mods stop shunning this issue away as a hardware problem. Let them know that people are having this issue.

The reason behind this being stated as a hardware problem is probably to extort people of their one and only free hardware repair covered under warranty. Please don't let this happen. The phone as I count has crashed 47 times today itself. How much do you expect me to bear? Your phone has a shitty resale value so I can't easily sell this and buy the good old OnePlus (An option which I am really starting to consider seriously let me tell you)

  • Instead of deleting this thread as the same post exists in other threads. I just want to make it clear to who ever that might read this. There is no such thing as "their one and only free hardware repair" this is a misunderstanding from flipkart who only offers one free repair of a broken display or water damage with the Flipkart Complete Mobile Protection. This has nothing to do with ASUS warranty which makes sure the phone will work during the entire warranty life regardless of how many times it needs to be sent in for repair. Hopefully never but there is no limit.
If you read this thread because your phone restarts several times per day or doesn't start. Please contact your ASUS Service Center.
  • But you still has a repaired phone! With this crap hardware every one with bricked phones should get a brand new one.
  • I have purchased Asus 6z on July 17 th..I had done factory reset 3 times and booted to safe mode multiple times due to crashing issues....I thought of visiting service centre and finally went......He gave me with earlier update and I again updated to August software..... Now the problem stil persists....I have been Asus fan since couple of years.... Please don't make me regret.....
  • Please visit them again. We have made sure that all service centers have clear instructions on how to deal with phones that constantly crash.

  • Do the moderator is saying that we need to take the phone everytime it crashes. So are the moderators indirectly accepting that they have no actual solution. Repair took around 10 days for me. So what does ASUS expect here, that i keep the phone for repair for 10 days or so everytime this happens? Do the people at ASUS even realise the harrasment they are giving their customers in the name of shitty repair work and third class product? Every customer plagued by this should receive a full refund or a replacement.
  • We do not want to harass our customers in any way. There are service rules that our service centers need to follow to make sure we are not unfair to our customers. One of those rules is that a device can not be repaired for the same issue more than a couple of times before they need to offer a solution. I can not go into how many times this is or what the solution will be as it may differ from products or case to case. I assure you that it will not be a never ending story where you need to send your product for repair over and over again.

All that is good but please dont mention the words "Never Ending Story". Those three words hurt more than anything in the world.

File a claim in the local consumer forum. The set is clearly defective. If you purchased it very recently, your claim shall ordinarily be accepted by the consumer court. I am speaking this with the backing of some past experience. Their FOTA wrecked some sets so a return is not a very big thing for Asus to accept.

Also you should know that this process can be easily done without the help of a lawyer as the consumer forum process has been made quite easy now.

Sadly class action suits is still not a thing in India.

However, I have been using my 6z since a month now. I have not had a single crash or restart ever. When i got my set, I had updated it to .174. I think .167 was the one with the restart issues.
  • When I got my phone I directly updated to 174 update then why is my phone crashing and restarting
