How to change a default camera pictures filenames?

Please tell us some basic information before asking for help:

  1. Model Name: Zenfone 9
  2. Firmware Version: WW32.2040.2040.28
  3. Rooted or not: Not
  4. Frequency of Occurrence: Always
  5. APP Name & APP Version (If your issue relates to the app): Camera (Asus default)

In addition to information above, please also provide as much details as you can, e.g., using scenario, what troubleshooting you've already done, screenshot, etc.

I need to change default filename pattern, e.g: P_<date>_<time>.jpg to IMG_<date>_<time>.jpg

I do not want to rely on external automation software/scripting/etc.

Not that I'm aware of, but I'll forward your feedback to the R&D department.

    Hey @Mppdev

You will have to manually change the filename of the pictures.

    Here are the steps-

    1. Open the gallery app
    2. Select the picture
    3. Click on the three dots (top right corner)
    4. Select- Rename
    5. Add the filename of your choice

Hey @Mansi_ASUS, thanks for your input. Unfortunately, this is not what I was asking. I know how to rename a single file, but imagine this: I need to change a picture name to a specific pattern before it is uploaded to my storage. Every single picture taken.

So once again, I am looking for a way to change a *default filename pattern*.

    Hey @Mppdev

    Apologies for the misunderstanding.

However, changing the default filename pattern isn't possible without the use of an external scripting app or software. You can probably generate a shell script on a PC that can automatically rename all the files generated by your phone.

Do you know if ASUS got it in the development queue? I am surprised, that such a basic option is not available. I had it on every single phone that I had used before.
