Screen glitching in web browser

  1. Model Name: Zenfone 9
  2. Firmware Version: WW-32.2030.2030.26
  3. Rooted or not: not rooted
  4. Frequency of Occurrence: always
  5. APP Name & APP Version (If your issue relates to the app): Brave browser 1.43.90

In addition to information above, please also provide as much details as you can, e.g., using scenario, what troubleshooting you've already done, screenshot, etc.



When browsing the screen glitch very often (it occurs when opening a website, doing a google instant search, ...).

I'm in 120hz, tested in 60hz and the problem still occurs.

It occurs only with the web browser (brave browser is based on Google Chrome).

I hope this will be fixed, I'm considering to send back the phone.


  • I have the same problem with Brave browser. Sometimes it even doesn't allow me to scroll some pages, but I don't know if it's problem from the browser, or from asus.

  • Me too, when I switch between brave sheets I see glitches on the top.

    I don't know if it's a brave or gpu driver problem.

    I've tested on my mother's Xperia 5 III and had no issues.

    So it's confirmed it's an Asus issue.

  • Does look like graphicsdriver issue. Does look funky, I think this should get fixed somewhat soon.

  • No issues with other browsers. (Haven't tested with Brave).

    Maybe Brave has a performance hack that doesn't work on Asus and results in a glitch?

  • This could very well be the case, might be worth checking with the developer itself in case they haven't updated.

    I got a reply from our R&D team and I would need some extra info.

    1.- In Developer options please turn on "Show Refresh Frequency"

    2.- Check if the app actually shows the Refresh rate at the moment of failure.

    3.- Try to film with another device when the issue occurs.

    When you get the video please send it to me as a PM so I can forward it to the R&D team.

  • Hi, for the first questions - I use the screen only on 60hz, so it isn't likely to be part of the issue.

  • Together with the information I wrote earlier, it seems the team also needs a Log, I would appreciate it if any user with the issue could provide it so that they can move forward with the investigation.

    Please follow the below steps to enable the built-in log tool (Bug reporter).

    1.  Open “Calculator APP”

    2.  Enter “.19595+=”

    3.  Select the Log type according to the type of issue you want to capture. “General cases” will work for most issues.

    4.  After your selection the log tool will exit so you can duplicate the issue or wait for it to happen. Try to use the screen recorder to show your issue when possible. If you can't screen record your issue, then please take a screenshot right after the issue has occurred (as a timestamp) so we know where to look in the log.

    5.  Navigate back to the log tool via calculator and Tap "FINISH AND SHARE".

    6. It takes several minutes for the log to generate. You can exit and do other stuff in the meantime. A silent notification will tell you once the process is done. Tap the notification and then the share button to upload the file to Google Drive and share the link with a moderator. Just make sure to change the permission first so that everyone with the link has permission to view it.

    Note: When you're no longer planning on logging your device, enter “.09595+=” in the calculator and the log tool will stop as well as deleting all stored log files. Make sure to share via calculator. The files found in internal storage -> asus_log are not the correct files (they are only 1.2kb)

    Hi @Mattias_ASUS , I just noticed the thread, and it matches with the same issue I have, but on Kiwi browser, which is also based on Chromium ( the issue happened on the previous version of the ZenUI SW as well ).

    Here are my device details:

    1. Model Name: Zenfone 9
    2. Firmware Version: WW_32.2040.2040.23
    3. Rooted or not: Not rooted
    4. Frequency of Occurrence: 90% of the time
    5. APP Name & APP Version (If your issue relates to the app): Kiwi & Brave browser

    I perfectly replicated the issue immediately after enabling the log tool, precisely when pressing the view tabs button in the browser.

    Here I pasted the recording that I made using another device. Could you please PM me so that I can send you the log as well? I can't seem to be able to send you any private message.
