As real and as vague as, for instance, if you drive you can get into a deadly accident. Impact means something such as, e.g, 1 in n people with phones with security updates 3 months old or older get their phone taken over by a malicious actor. "Something bad may happen" says nothing about impact.
The batery is horrible on my zenfone 8. Brabd new phone,4 days old. Battery is draining so fast. Every 2-3 minutes 1%. Just hope the new update will fix it. Im on Android 12.
vanja - your new phone battery is not in form... you must charge your battery couple times and then battery get in form... after couple months my zf 8 without traveling and only on wifi reaches 10h+ sot with lower brightness, 5h web , messenger, RSS,etc.. only 2g/3g mode.. also using ultra slow charging or even better slower charger adapter stabilize battery life and lifespan..
Did you get it via OTA? Because I had to install it manually.
As to LineageOS - it can afford it because the responsibility for serious bugs and failures in updates (and I have seen quite a few in my many years of using LOS on quite a few devices) is on the users. I would not want Asus to treat my Z8 the way LOS developers (God bless them!) treat my Sony XZ1c and XZ2c, my Cubot mini, my Xiaomi Mi Max 3 etc.
This being said, the update (v92) is underwhelming. My A12 works well, but the minor issues I had (such as the green color of Google apps and widgets, or the low headphone volume etc.) have not been solved.
Yup, I got it via OTA. Idk, I would expect the company to be a month late on the security updates, but Asus is regularly on 2-3 months behind. I would probably go for LOS, but I am afraid of the ramdump issue.
It is either that or the phenomenon of aging. I guess Asus will be dropping a new zenfone in a few months so their focus has shifted, as I would assume the sales of zenfone 8 are down as well given how long it is on the market.
Hardware wise zenfone 8 is perfect for me. I also love the Zen UI, so they came really close to perfection here.
Ehhhh..... Yesterday ASUS rolled out updates for A11 as well as for A12 users, but why didn't You aply the latest security patch, especially when it fixes so many important bugs in security level of Android?!? :/ How can we securily use our devices in the age of mobile banking, etc. with politics like that??? WHEN can we expect faster security level updates from You???? Just please, DO sth about it ASAP !
It normal for phone manufacturer. I have been using OP and they always late for security update. And their OTA never reach me and I'm force to use Oxygen Updater to get early OTA.
It's not gonna happen. You can either go custom ROM to lineage (and lose the warranty and camera quality), or switch to another phone.
I had a Pixel before this and I never had the need to put a custom ROM on it. And with zenfone 8 I do. With Pixel even if you put a custom ROM, you keep the warranty (given that you flash stock before you send it to Google).

I see you were right now 😁

QUESTION to asus mods and all team. : when will asus improve in delivering security patches? when my zf 8 reaches EOL ????????????????
Asus Zenfon 8 is now EOL, security pathes are your answer.
So I just got an update now and the security patch is now December.
Can't really understand why LineageOS can keep it's OS up to date but Asus can't, at least on its flagship project.
Your are using Android 11? On Android 12 still November Path.
Because LineageOS is a paid and commercial institution that makes money on its products. Unlike Asus, which is a no profit and charitable company ;)

Nope, I am using A12, however I have signed up for the beta. Not sure if that matters anymore as A12 was officially released.

I was never 2-3 months behind on A11. I would frequently receive 2 updates a month. It seems to be a transition to A12 phenomenon.

Asus don't care users security.

now, realme announces realme gt2 series, promises 3 years of android upgrades and 4 years of security updates. WHERE IS ASUS ? ?? ? ? ?? ? ??
We have almost April and January security path on phone, Asus you are the best!
Yes, Asus, immediately give us the Almost April patch (which is almost out).

Strange, I have a Zenfone 8 (and a Pixel 5, after a long line of Pixels), and I don't need a custom ROM on it.
