As mentioned above, why there is still no Android 12 OTA?
I am asking myself same question. They announced release in december, but who already got it automatically in 2nd part of January?
Who act first.... They get if first...
Can somebody from Asus gave us some information? @gustaf_fl @Irene2_ASUS
The android 12 of Zenfone 8 will not be released via ota, you need to download and install it from the website.
Why it won't be released via OTA?
Some people do not want to receive updated ota messages, there are still some problems with Android 12, not everyone wants to update.
Are you saying they will keep updating 11 and 12 will be in permanent beta state? What about promised 13, will it be only prototype sw? They need to go full on android 12 and fix it for phone.
A12 is already not in beta.
It may be, but it is a hassle to get it. First you need to know it exist, then find it:
Then follow all the steps and hope you did not do something wrong:
Not really user friendly. That is why we are asking for proper release. When more people will be on A12, more pressure will be to get fixed. It seams they are just stalling.
Asus released the A12 in December to meet the promised deadline. Each user of A12 may point out minor bugs in the system operation after the update. Maybe they don't want to send OTA before solving most of the problems?
They have beta to solve problems, am I right?
Yes you are righ, they also declared the release of A12 at the end of 2021, which they did.
Android 12 is proving to be a nightmare for all OEM,s . I just returned a OnePlus 9 Pro because of their nightmare version of A 12 . If Asus is not going to release an ota update for A12 I think it's probably a good idea,at least until they get it to work properly. Even the pixel,s ota was stopped because of to many problems. Google have just made to many changes in A12 for it to work without any problems
I don't have any issues with a12
I was told by Asus support today that there won't be an A12 OTA. You have to install it manually.
The ASUS situation is disappointing as I have a stable release on my Sony. But on the other hand, Android 12 looks horrible and has bugs of its own. I wouldn't recommend it.
I have just made the upgrade to 12 manually and everything is working perfect. The battery seems to be better too
Great. The reason?
No reason was given, but I didn't ask either.
