I am though not an expert in all these but still will try and explain as simple as possible.
1. 22 hrs back your phone charge was -94%
2. As per your consumption chart ,a 100% would yield 7.10 hrs of SOT.
Given these facts i generally get 9hrs+ SOT when using Dynamic mode and in Advanced which i have customised i get 11hrs+ SOT.
Now as i can see a lot of gaming and video calls were done which again consumes more battery, your phone still ran for 22hrs which is to be considered as an excellent battery life given.
So to sum up i think it has done a good job enough. Request you to share another screenshot of your usage after having charged the phone to 💯. When its 10% share it here. And use it as normal as you do so that we can get a clear picture of it.
And even if you aren't happy with it i guess you can try out the Batter Saver Mode in Developer Mode. I had used it on my Rog 3 and it worked like a charm. But this is a later stage as we need to know if everything is ok with your phone. Will be waiting for your response.
Thanks, I will share the SS when it reaches 10%.
Well, my charge still hasnt reached 10%, however, as a follow-up to my previous battery health test you might find this useful.
In the previous battery test my old OP 6T had a large number of samples where as the ROG 5 had 3.
So I reset my OP 6T and ran the battery charge test. charged the phone from 5% to 97%, similar to the ROG 5, charged it from 5- 95% and here are the battery health results.
OP 6T: It has 77% health as expected considering its almost 3 years old now.
ROG 5: 3 days old
@Reaperzwolf Can you perform the same test as well using AccuBattery and see what the battery health and estimated capacity are on your phone?
Well i can do that but honestly speaking these apps can't be trusted much and values vary a lot. I generally do the traditional method that the mods have explained.
It would be great if you can and share a SS as well.
I have used the app across 5 devices ad the results were always consistent. However, with ROG 5 as you can see it only detected 1 battery I suppose and it's not even accounting for the charging to the full 6000mAh.
If your results are the same as mine then I guess, the App isn't optimized for dual battery phones.
Alright will do that. I am using the simple version of it. Not the pro version. Will update you on the same
Hey, @jutleys I am curious, how you got 1 day 22 hours of usage with 43% juice left and still get an estimated usage of 1 day 7 hrs?
I am getting only 15 hours from my phone :(
Because he hardly used his phone. It was on standby 🤣. Check his SOT and also the apps he used. Hardly any app to drain his battery. If even i keep my phone on standby or just rarely use any app my phone will last for 3 days🤗
To give you a better understanding see how much battery has been consumed by Google Duo. Its a video call so it will consume battery. The more gaming and video call you run the more battery it will consume.
So does that mean that my phone is giving poor backup? No. As per the style of my usage its superb.Calculate the % on the right hand of each app and you will see it sums to 75% approx. Which proves that as per what i have used the consumption is ok.
Thats the reason i said share your screenshot so that we can understand where the drainage is.
Ah.. yes... XD...
True.. just noticed that lol..
Just now edited my writing. Read it full
@Anna-Kin if you can show me your screenshot of the batter page, probably i can tell you whats going on.
@Reaperzwolf Heres a super SS, the battery is at 21%, charged it to 100% yesterday around 8 PM IST.
TBH, I am slowly realizing that the battery life of this 6000mAh phone is not as good as the reviewers hyped it to be, I expected a two-day charge phone, and it's just that I expected a really amazing battery backup, in reality, however, it's just around 15% better than my old OPP 6T.
It would be great if you could share your advanced mode settings which gave you around 11 hrs of SOT.
There you go. These are the settings i use. You may also try out Battery Saver in Developer Mode which gave me excellent results with my Rog 3. Yet to test it with my Rog 5.
Btw @Anna-Kin you have been using the phone since 23 hrs is what i realised from your last 100% charge. I guess thats good if i am not mistaken. But given the SS of my stats which i shared before (25%) , it seems i utilised more of my phone than yours, wherein i can say that you got some bad battery backup going on in your case.
Note- I used Dynamic mode for the 25% SS which i had shared.
@Anna-Kin as per your request here is the data you requested for. Honestly seeing this, i am still not convinced that the battery health is poor in my case as i have been getting consistent SOT of 9+ since 4 days i had purchased the phone. I am currently using Dynamic Mode. Previously i had extracted 11hrs SOT with Advanced Mode. I guess the app is not at all accurate in its information and drains a lot of battery while running in background. If my battery health is so poor i would have achieved those big numbers. And yes,as i had mentioned earlier i guess you need to tweak here and there.
Note- I use 60Hz only. So this can be another factor why i get good numbers 😂.
Perhaps the moderators here can further help you out on this.
I checked other threads regarding AccuBattery, and it seems that the App only detects one battery and ignores the 2nd 1, thus the results.
Plus, Asus markets the batteries as 3000mAh, whereas in reality its around 2800mAh.
As I see you used Duo for 1.2 hours and it took just 25% of your charge, whereas when I used Duo for 13 Mins in one of my prior SSs, it took 18%.
I was using and I am still using Dynamic mode, I believe, my unit does have a faulty battery which is causing it to drain faster.
I will contact Asus support and will see if they are of any help, I honestly don't think that the Asus service center will be of any help in fixing this issue or replacing a faulty device.
As you might have also noticed, the Mods here are not that great when it comes to supporting.
And Thank you for your help 😊
He barely used his phone, that being said its still quite a dramatic drain. When I barely used my Rog3, I have juice for roughly 5.5 days. as can be seen here:
