Hello,

After having installed A11 via OTA, I started noticing a very annoying lag in Whatsapp, mainly when exiting a discussion meanwhile the other person is typing in the same discussion: in details, the transition between a specific discussion and the main feed is very slow (at a very low frame rate) and totally not smooth.

I therefore decided to perform a factory reset and a fresh reinstallation of all the apps, whit the hope to fix it but, unfortunately, as soon as I installed Whatsapp again, the lag immediately popped up again as well.

I also tried to wipe the app cache but no result at all.

Any idea/suggestion? Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

Thank you in advance

  • Exact same problem here. The lag seems to occur when I transition to the main feed after clicking on a message notification to access a specific chat.

No other lag or performance issues in other apps, so I suspect it is a bug specific to WhatsApp.

  • This is not a whatsapp issue, but a ZF issue. This inly happens on A11 release and I saw a lot of other small lags in A11 especially when or after you clear your memory. Moreover on pixel 3a this is not happening...same on samsung galaxy s10...

  • I am fully convinced this is due to ZF software as the same issue was not present on Android 10, despite the same release of WhatsApp was installed.

  • Yes, I agree with you. What I meant was it is a ZF issue specific to running WhatsApp, as opposed to general performance bug.

I would have expected a comment from a moderator as, at least to my knowledge, WA is one of the most used apps in the world and, for this reason, should be highly compatible with the majority of smartphone.

I am really disappointed and even more because I wasted a whole day in factory resetting and installing all the apps, without any positive effect.

I face the same lag. There was no lag on A10, it has been introduced in A11.

I deleted by mistake the message you sent, as it was in the spam folder. Would it be possible for you to send it once again? Apologies for this inconvenience and thanks in advance for your patience and support.

  • If you are finding messeges on Gmail or other email sites than that it is not Necessary at all you can also see those same messeges here on zentalk forum

For that Here on forum you can find messeges on envolope icon.

How to find messeges on forum:-

For mobile version - tap on your display icon on top right corner of the forum and then click on envolope icon to access all messeges

For pc/desktop version - look at the top right corner of forum page and you can see Envolope icon click on that to access new messges

    Thanks!

Any update on this or fixes sent privately to the other two users who provided logs? Thanks!

  • No news so far! Waiting for the update, that I believe will be released publicly, notifications in WA staterd randomly not working properly: at every new message only the icon will pop up without any sound and/or vibration.

I am going to be really annoyed by the A11 bugs

Be aware that they will take a long while to analize it and revert. I am still waiting for a reply from dev's side.

  • Looking at your log, we concluded that this lag will only happen once right after opening an app that hasn't been used for a while. It's part of the power saving feature. If there's any other lag that occurs than the one you sent us, then you need to log this too or we won't be able to know which issue you're experiencing.

  • Thank you for feedback but now I would like to know how to move forward. Is there anything else I can do to fix this issue or do only I have to wait for a new software release from Asus developers?

I don't think it can be because of a power saving issue, because I can recreate it over and over again just by going through this procedure: 1. Use another phone to send me (ZF7pro) a whatsapp message 2. While on the home screen, open the message via the notification (crucial detail), and the specific conversation page opens 3. Swipe right from the left edge to go to the main whatsapp feed, and lag occurs right here like it's slow motion when switching to main feed screen.

I can do this over and over again just by going back to the home screen, sending another message, opening it via notification etc. So it's not the case that whatsapp hasn't been open for some time. Seems like the same issue as others, but you guys can try.

    Hope this helps! Thanks!

Is there any update on this topic? I would have expected it to be in the firmware release but there is no evidence in the changelog.

Only for the sake of clarity, the bug still exists also after having updated the mobile phone to the latest firmware release.

    Thanks

Same on my end. Updated to newest firmware but bug persists.

Any updates on this bug? I sincerely believe that it cannot be a power saving feature, at least not in my case, as 1) it is easily replicable repeatedly even if I turn off all battery optimisation options 2) it doesn't occur on other A11 phones

It also happens every time I click into a Whatsapp message via the notification, even if I just exited WhatsApp, as opposed to "after opening an app that hasn't been used for a while."

Let me know if I need to provide video recording or logs in PM. Thanks!
