So yesterday I got the new firmware update and download and installed automatically. I thought everything was good but when I went out and went on my mobile data I saw that I was not able to see my data go thru. I mean I saw the h+ and a full bar but no data was coming thru. I couldn't make calls or nothing and my mobile company said that I was still getting data. So is it because of the new update that now I am not able to get data thru?

So I just got the sim. Put it in and yup it's working. The sim is from another carrier but everything seems to be working fine
It's probably a bad sim card the other one.

So after the recent update for the Zenfone 5z it seems as if my data network is not working properly. If I get of my wifi. I see the h+ symbol and bars but no data is coming thru or leaving. I tried google and other websites to no avail. Has anyone had any issues with it as well like this or is it just me?
Hi atomicwaster
First of all, please avoid overlapping thread or message, which may disturb the mods and the users to solve the issue. I moved your second thread here, and I hope you don't mind.
Second, kindly try some stay-at-home troubleshooting tips below:
1. Please try reset Network: Settings>System>Reset options>Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth
2. Confirm your APNs Settings with your SIM carrier:
Settings>Network & internet>Mobile network>Access Point Names>Internet
I didn't face this situation, yet there is a similar case as the link below
https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/41135/
If your case remains the same after troubleshooting 1 & 2, please try "the Factory Reset"
Settings>System>Reset options>Erase all data(factory reset)
Please note that once the Factory Reset is completed, all data, apps, settings and personal information will be deleted.
Give a screen shot of your network bars.
It's that weird h+ but it won't let get any data. I noticed though when I clicked VoLTE off it takes the h+ away but I still can't use my data.
Type "*#*#4636#*#*" in your keypad,
Go to phone information 0
Then take a screenshot of "set preferred network type" and send here
Do you mean this?
That #* number nothing happens when I type it in.
This is what you might have been looking for I got the #* number to work
Your network settings seem fine to me.
Does this happen with another carrier sim too?
If yes,
Try hard ressetting your device.
Ensure to backup everything before that.
Also, even after if the problem persists, try getting a new sim. To check for further diagnosis.
Also, can I ask you what is that little notification icon in your status bar which looks to me as a telephone service notification. Do tell me about that.
Also, you can try one more workaround to see if it works,
Set your preferred network type to "lte only" then see what happens. Then revert it back to what it is right now.
So I just ordererd another sim from a different carrier to test to see if that one works. I won't reset until I get that one for now. I tried the lte and nothing happens. What weird too is when I manually take off the mobile data and am literally not supposed to have any bars the bars are still there.
And that's like after 5 mins off. The telephone icon is for the Viber app btw.
Take of the mobile data?? You are wrong here... H+ is hybrid+ so it just a later form of 3g so when you disable mobile data the network bars should stay full as they are in your screen shot. H+ is your data connection and not your network connection. I think you are confused b/w mobile data and airplane mode. Bro network bars are supposed to show only when airplane mode is disabled. If you see a sim cross sign or a network bar empty with a cross sign then you will have some problem with your phone. Btw?have you tried your sim in another device? Or have you tried another sim in your phone. There was no need of ordering another sim. You could simply check if yours was working or not by putting it in another device.
Well, not scaring you or something, if another sim also does not work or your sim works in other phone perfectly then the chances of solution of this by yourself will be pretty low even if you perform a factory reset.
Open calculator
Type-
. 012345+=
Open SIMMI TEST
SELECT TEST SINGLE
CHECK FOR THESE IF THEY GET PASSED :-
1) MODEM TEST
2) SIM CARD TEST
3) SIM SIGNAL TEST
REGARDS
Ahhhh I see. I did those tests the modem and sim card test passed the last one didn't .
Hi atomicwaster
Thank you for your reply. Are you using two sim cards? Please try to insert your T-Mobile sim card in slot 1 to slot 2 and recheck SMMI test, initially diagnosing that it is a sim card+APN settings issue or a sim slot issue.
If T-Mobile sim card performs well in slot 2, please check your APNs settings with your slot2 sim carrier.
Well this is normal, it has passed, just when you will sim 2 it will show a confirmed pass that's it.
So I switched it to the second slot and did the test again the first two tests passed but when I tried the sim signal it showed this
Weird it is in but says it's not. But I sent to check my apn settings too and everything seems right
You have to insert both sim cards to produce the test passed.
Your settings seem fine. Tried another sim in phone?
