Ok..the update didnt fix the L3 widevine for me. i have tried clear cache n storage for netflix and the app is already updated but I still have L3 status and SD only.
I'm guessing asus only made the update for english netflix only and not for other region? 🤦♂️
Ok..I think I have fix for this. If you are on another region of netflix, you have to change the language to english. That fix it for me. I have change the language from indonesia to english from my account setting from browser.
I have no idea whether it is a definite fix OR maybe you just have to wait for the update to work on your phone. But theres no harm for trying my fix idea.
Great, after rebooting device twice in the third party widevine checker app I can see L1 security finally. Netflix is still l3 but I'll wait for sometime for it to revert back to L1
Not sure if it makes a difference. My DRM app seen the change first. I 5ried restarting and netflix didn't. I then cleared cache and ran a playstore apps update. Nothing for netflix but it did show the correct L1 and full hd play back after. Might have just been time but I am back now anyway.

Besides, your release note is different from mine, where did you purchased the device? Have you ever unlocked/rooted/flashed custom rom on your device?

So finally Asus has pushed out OTA update which resolved getting downgraded to Widevine L3. I got an update today morning now its back to Widevine L1

as pointed out by @avcayetano , go to Apps - Netflix - Clear cache & storage, then relog Netflix
It didn't fix it immediately after the update it took probably 1 restart uninstall n installation and almost 15-20 minutes of waiting

still doesn't work, and I've been using English from the start, switched to Bahasa and then English again to no avail.
already uninstalled, installed again, cleared cache and storage, waited 30 mins. still nothing.
Try rebooting it again
tried three times and even the DRM Info app says that I'm still L3
finally L1, guess waiting is mostly what we need to do.
