As has been reported in the thread linked above, the CPU seems to be spiking because of a bug with the latest version of Google Play Store. It's affecting several models, ROG included. We're following up on this and I'll get back to you as soon as I know more.
Instead of fixing this issue asus is busy blaming others like always....it's hillarious...why I don't have issue if I have not updated yet? It's issue with your software asus .

The bug is not in Google play store but with the latest update itself bcuz cpu spike triggers only when installing / updating apps
