Leaks and Rumours said that, Android 10 stable update will based on Zen UI 7... So 50% chances that it can be implement this feature in future
No, android 10 will not be based on zenui-7 because it will take a lot of time and work to convert the aosp to zenui-7, if they ware going to give zenui for asus zenfone max pro m1 then they would have started the development of android 10 for Asus zenfone max pro m1 with zenui.

Portrait mode in rear camera works fine in my device
It's working fine for me, you can try to clear cache and data for camera app and try again.
